For all who dont like any of the settings:

i would suggest that whenever you see any play that you don't like (quad whores, power shield, etc) that you simply employ the help of all of the other players on the server to take that person down. It is pretty easy to team on the blue or green guy. This has worked for me in the past. Especially on dm8 when a real good player can really rack up a high score above everyone else. i have played that map many times teaming with everyone on the map to take down the ps user. It is fun. It is another strategy. i like it when subtle things in the game change the face and play of the game. If every game played exactly the same, i would lose interest in it.

p.s. Console: thanks for including 4u2maps. Some of the best out there, and little known i am afraid.

As far as settings go, I have no preference. I dislike dm2 & dm4.

I say leave everything on...

Quad is cool, invulnerability is a nice treat and you only have to deal with someone else having it 30 seconds out of the 5 minutes it takes to respawn. I think powershield can get annoying, I generally leave it when I'm playing with others that aren't quite as skilled, so power screen is a nice substitute. And BFG ON!! I think it's a lot of fun trying to avoid people with the bfg who don't really understand how it causes damage. It's mainly an ambush weapon anyway and good for beginners to use because they can actually get frags with it. It helps to get people interested in the game! Plus it's important to the integrity of the map...

Oh yeah, and definitely replace dm7 with the modified version. I ran around it a few times and think it's way better than the original... i like the increased armor (it's such a spammy map) and the lack of ridges on the walkways really makes a difference, I caught myself really being careful around those edges (it still looks like they're there!), didn't realize that was how I treated that kind of map feature. Is it a tad more spacious too? Probably just my imagination... Anyways, good job on that map, look forward to playing it.

just got done playing a few games on the dm server.. played dm5, dm6, dm7, and dm8.. and it was pretty fun.. dm6 had alot of people so i had a couple fun quad runs, but ppl started leaving

crazed and gator stayed the whole time tho so we had some fun games.. and i really like the power screen, easier to die when you have it so you still gotta be pretty careful unlike the power shield where once im stacked i run around carelessly stacking up frags.. i also got another one so i gave it to crazed after he railed me a few times while i was typing out drop power screen hehe.. then i got killed by someone else (my only death the whole game hehe) then the game ended.. was really fun, hope more people start playing there, would love to play some full ffa games on all the maps plus some mymaps for variety.. great server tastyspleen!

1. i disagree, dm7mod is much better than the original and still has the dm7 feel to it.. its alot more balanced especially for ffa (wont run out of ammo all the time, you can get your health back and not die, and it just feels alot better)

2. i think mymap is great with the maps.. its not like the people really use mymap anyways, i played there for a few hours today and the only time it was used was when i did it for kryptonite once. gives variety

3. i like how it is now.. no invuln, theres a quad, and the power shield is replaced with power screen which is alot more balanced

4. don't think a fraglimit would be good with a 10 min timelimit.. its always cool seeing how high you can go in 10 minutes, at least for me it is.

When i first started to play on the server, i thought it was gonna be just the regular plain and simple maps, but No. Sure it might be a little more interesting, but what about those ppl that want to play on the reg. dm1-8? huh?

its mostly always dm1-8 what u talking about? with the exception of dm7mod but thats exactly like dm7 with dif item placements.. and mymap is rarely used like i said, and i found out kryptonite owns in ffa!

Yeah, the dm server is great. i had so much fun last night playing you guys that it felt like old times, back when the game came out. One reason for that was no bitching! Just fragolicious fun. (Well, mostly no bitching. Cannonball was pretty upset with the constant quad runs and left after two or three maps of it). i like the quad being there, because i like to take it from people. But i can see how some quad haters will leave if it is whored.

About the map rotation, i think it is good to stick mainly to the stock dm maps. That is why people are at that server. However one custom map every now and then breaks up the monotony. It would be cool if mymap only allowed stock dm map mods.

Like q2dm1inv, etc. i suppose we can self police. Tell people that mymap custom maps many times in a row to goto mutant. a voteable kick would be nice on the servers. Give some self policing enforcement.

dm7mod rocks. It is what id would have wanted if they had thought harder about what they wanted.

OK - we've gotten so many requests for a dm1-8 server I figure we'll start one up.

I'm leaning toward making it dm1-8 by default rotation, but have some additional maps available via mymap.

Possible maps available via mymap would include: q2dm1inv, match1, ztn*, kryptonite, ... a few other high-calibre deathmatch style maps.
