Author Topic: Need help, cant connect to tasty ra2! (Read 7062 times)

Hi guys.
I'm having a problem connecting to the tasty ra2 server

In all seeing eye, the server is greyed out(means the server is down), and the when I refresh the server list, tasty's pl goes from 67% to 100% and back, etc. When I try to force a connect anyway, I'm stuck in console, which repeats "awaiting connection 1...2...3..." Funny thing is, I have no problems connecting to the tasty ra2 match server.

I have no clue what's causing this problem. Please help me!

Hi,
admin of the tasty ra2 server, or anyone, can you tell me if the port number of that server was changed recently from # to 27915? That will help me determined if that specific port is blocked by my isp. THANK YOU!

I would think something with your ISP, or PC is messed, the ra2 server looks fine. Can you ping the server. ISPs rarely block ports, but if you did want to see if the port was open you can telnet to the port (if it says connection refused, the server sent back a tcp/rst, it wasn't listening, or if it says timed out, the data could of been dropped..). Maybe it is something with your machine.

It was r1q2-server auto banning for what it considered file path exploits:

138.89.xxx.xxx/32 (download exploit (path players/female/..crakhor/r2blue.pcx))
74.105.xxx.xxx/32 (download exploit (path pics/female/..crakhor/r2blue_i.pcx))
71.251.xxx.xxx/32 (download exploit (path pics/female/..crakhor/r2blue_i.pcx))
76.21.xxx.xxx/32 (download exploit (path pics/female/..crakhor/r2blue_i.pcx))

I'm not sure exactly what happened here. It seems like maybe someone ELSE had their skin set to that path, and people who tried to auto-download it got banned. (If so, it would seem the cure is worse than the disease.)

Anyway I've removed the bans.

Hey guys, thanks.

Eh, it was as simple as restarting my modem. I just hadn't thought about that at the moment, though, cuz I was busy scrimmin, but was wonderin at the same time why I couldn't join the ra2 pub server:p

I removed the ban, as I said, but the server has auto-banned you once again:

I don't know WHY this is happening yet... But either you or someone else on the server has their skin set to a bad path.

thanks=] What confuses me is that the server was showing up greyed out in both all seeing eye and Gamespy arcade. Can a ban do that? And the game's console would also say "awaiting connection" infinitely, instead of saying "Connection refused" or something like that. Not saying that you are wrong, I'm just saying I'm a little confused:p But hey, I can connect to the server now, so I guess you're right.

...How do I fix this bad path skin problem to avoid this whole mess up again? I guess i turn off auto-dl'n skins and models right?

Yes, it was a 'blackhole' style ban. The server just ignores packets from that IP, which makes it look to Gamespy, etc., like the server doesn't even exist.

Re: the bad path skin problem... Yeah, I guess turning off auto-download would work for now. I'd like to know who/what is really causing the problem... It's not very good that someone can apparently ban OTHER people by setting their skin to a bogus value.
