Action Quake 2?

The game looks nice. 

Like a call of duty for quake2.  Which is what i have always wanted to try.

i'm using my normal defualt q2 config, which has brighter lighting, few shadows.  im sure with stock lighting it would be better looking and much more fun.  i know i could force some client settings somehow, and have half a mind to do that perhaps in the future.

For now, i havent played anyone yet, just jumped around the maps alone.  The maps are nice.

i still have white boxes all over though, so i am obviously missing files.  i can't see my hands, or any of the weapons.  i have a pak2 and pak3.  i'd love to know what files i am missing.  i'd love for an action player to post a screenshot of what is inside thier action folder.  Doesnt seem to read configs right either.  Do they need renamed .ini?

is there an action.exe? It is normal q2, correct?  im using r1gl.


Any help would be Greaty Appreciated.  And if there is anything left of the Action Quake2 community, i'd love to have contact with it, and help it grow.

Use to play AQ2 a lot back in the day. Team play is the only real way to go... AQ2 death match was never really popular. Might just have to install it again!

white octahedrons are what your client puts up when you don't have the weapon/item/player models for a specific entity. same with the screwed up "hand".. this is what happens if you try to play xatrix without the weapon models too..

You need to find the pak with the AQ2 models...
