one of my favorite things about quake2 is the perfect timed air rocket frags (when someone is in the air and you hit them with a rocket, killing them). I started using autorecord but I rarely get them cause I suck but when I do, I'll start cutting them out with keygrip and posting em here, cause why not? I can watch air rox all day so I thought some other ppl might want to see some.. daelmun owns at air rockets and keygrip so I'm sure he has a few clipped demos he can upload to this thread too and if you ever get one on demo be sure to post it here

How to watch demos:

Put the .dm2 file in the quake2/baseq2/demos folder (if it's not there, make a folder). Then open quake2, pull down the console and type:

map demoname.dm2
or
demomap demoname.dm2 (in r1q2)

Where demoname is the name of the file ( in this case "map airrock.dm2"). Or just download a demoplayer and use that.

Asking questions is not the same as being stupid/dumb my friend. Quite often it's the other way around.

Ah, great idea for a thread btw, naymlis. Nothing I love more than great frags with rl. I just remembered this one I hit a couple days back on lost. It's actually pretty nice

I take it from you guys post that sean said I was stupid for asking how to view demo. I use to watch demos all tha time but its been over a yr so I had forgot excuse stupid me. Good job Daelmun

hehe, knew u'd post one dael.. and it was very nice, the farther they are from you and the longer the time it takes for them to get hit by the rocket makes it that much better.. very nice, hope u get some more to post

those were both pretty awesome frags..

i need to learn how to use keygrip2.. if I could grasp the concept of it, I could recam some nice demos.. cause I got the time and patience to do that stuff..

but the shit seems to freeze up on my computer..

Forget to say your frag was very nice too naym, can clearly tell you went for the airrocket frag there. And yeah, I can watch airrocketfrags all day long too. Actually, I forgot that frag in that demo untill I read this thread. So I looked for the demo, and edited it out. But didn't remember it was that nice

So I have watched it quite a few times now, and I still find it cool. Not cause it's my own frag though, I can do that with any nice frag.

And element, keygrip2 is reknown for being one piece of buggy software, and pretty much everyone despise it. I even swore a year ago I'd never ever touch it again. But here I am using it again and again

Don't know how to help if it doesn't work.

And didn't start to autorecord untill recently mysefl

But now I think I'll be using q2a some, seems to working ok, and the autorecording there is great. I'll be sure to post anything that happens. And I have some old stuff that I sent to raija for movies, can just upload those clips here too. I'll do so later if people want to watch them.

autorecord? q2a? damn i been away to long or not spending enough time in forums.... I have no clue as to what you are talking about.. I have heard of keygrip though.. I had no luck with it myself. never got one clip done.

For standard quake2 put this in your baseq2/autoexec.cfg

You can then just hit f5 to start recording a demo when each round starts, f6 to stop, f5 again to start the next one.

For q2a, I believe this works:
record $date_$time_$mapname
This gives you the ability to automatically name them

well thats not really the autorecord im talking about.. they have it in nocheat, r1q2, and q2a.. i forgot the commands for nocheat and q2a but in r1q2 its just cl_autorecord 1.. itll record everytime u connect to a game / load a map, nocheat's and q2a's start recording when the matches start so the commands are more complicated but you can find them in the readme.

fnshow q2a is a new anticheat client called q2advance.. you can download it at www.q2players.org

Those are my autorecord commands for q2a/nocheat, works pretty good in tourney/tdm/gxmod but no so good in battle. Some of them are probably not needed, just too lazy to figure out which ones

The idea is that it stops any demo before starting to record so I wont get a 37423 mb demo with 12 games in, but rather one game in each demo file
