TS-500 Afterglow - How was your ts500 experience?

It seems a lot more likely that the lag was due to the number of players than each person's client.

Maybe we can find out if it was an anticheat-only kind of thing.... Did anyone playing who was NOT using anticheat experience this same kind of lag?

Here is the ts500 player chat filtered for the word "lag"...

So it looks like we need to find out what client {SX}KoRRuPT was using... 

Actually, I do have that info in the log for KoRRuPT:

Unfortunately, I don't have version strings for everyone... However, it does appear several players reporting lag did NOT have anticheat active:

So it looks like about half the people reporting lag did NOT have anticheat loaded...  So there may be no correlation...

I counted 43 participants on the stat sheet.  Thats a good turnout if I counted right.

there was lag, but it wasn't any worse than I've seen on vanilla when it's loaded up with players.
I did see one time about 30 minutes into the tourney where 6 guys all got "stuck" in mid-jump in the same section of the caves where the ammo pack resides.

My experince was wasn't too because everytime I attacked or engaged in an attack my Q2 would lag, it would seem normal when I was walking around there was no lag. Anyways I think its because I'm using anticheat r1q2. Next time I'm going to use the regular Q2.exe because alot of times I was attacking and the next thing I know I'm lagged and dead.

Interesting. I had a ton of fun, but definitely experienced the same kind of lag you described. I was also using r1q2 anticheat. I just assumed it was lagging for everyone because there were, like, 40 people on the server. Maybe we can find out if it was an anticheat-only kind of thing.... Did anyone playing who was NOT using anticheat experience this same kind of lag?

I had what i would call extreme unplayable "combat" lag, like ya'll said, only when engaging combot, if no one was around smooth as silk.
In fact it got so bad right at frag #11 my Demo crashed. It's all there. Just can't access it. At Frag #11 it just starts over using DemoPLayer.
Anyone know how to pull the remaining Demo out ???
I use R1Q2/R1GL combo. Quit using Anticheat because my "combat" lag seems intensified when using that.

Might try to go back to the 3.2exe or give Q2Apr or whatever it is a try.

hmm.. Same thing happened to me... I thought I just screwed up when recording my demo and hit the "stop" key in the heat of battle. after the match, I checked, and my demo was only 70kb! For some reason, that didn't seem quite big enough for an hour and 20 minute demo 

My lag wasn't unplayable, but I also made a conscious effort to avoid staying in the super busy areas for long..
(around the HB/quad pipe, the tower with the RL)

You may have hit stop. My Demo is 17 Megs. Just corrupted somehow.

I went to look at the filesize, and it was also 70 KB. It could be just a coincidence, but are there any other cases like this?

Oh, I had 'combat lag' too... it was pretty bad most of the game, I had a hell of a time aiming... maybe thats why I got top grenade frags?

My demo turned out like DeathStalker's.   17 megs, but quits after the first few minutes of playback (** Disconnected from server**).

Man that was a blast, I was having so much fun I really didn't pay much attention to the lag.
C 2 shoes was tearing it up in the warm up, figured he would be hard to beat. Nice job!

I had a blast.

I was using r1q2 and  AC,  wish I had experimented more.
could not get a good framerate to save mylife.
timerefreshed 26, 39, 50, and alot of times it fealt like less.
I tried sub 640 resolution,  helped a lil I guess.  
DAMN MY PENTIUM 2 TO HELL!!!

Demo recorded and played just fine though...

I turned the chat n stuff off because it took like 1/3 of my screen,
missed all the chatter n kills, but the anonamous factor was kinda kewl

In the water seemed to be the best place for no lag,  and easy kills.
just not enough traffic.

In large games, rate becomes a very important factor. If you had it set low or the server capped rate too low you'd get horrible lag (yellow on the netgraph if anyone thought to check). If you're on any type of broadband, you should be able to set rate 15000 just fine. Another factor is the map - it has a very large PVS, meaning your client receives data for everything around you in a very big radius, even players and projectiles you can't see will be sent. The map definitely is not one of the best examples of how to to good map design to reduce lag . It could also be CPU lag, either you or the server, or just simply so many entities it hits your video card fill rate. Without being there on the server, I'd guess rate was the most influential factor. R1Q2 users may have noticed a flashing yellow message in the middle left of the screen if this is the case.

I definitely wouldn't think it was the anticheat, once in game the bandwidth usage is tiny. Only on map loading and maybe a few seconds at the start of the map is anticheat transferring data.
