Not easily.  (Would take a custom mod.)

Traps would sure give people who like to "run routes" some nasty surprises though.

Think about all the maps with any powerup ( or any object for that matter) it was part of the maps' design for balance and playability.  Specifically, the quad damage( just like the bfg)  is there for balance to keep people from armoring up and camping.  Bottom line, it is a necessary part of the maps that it is included in.   It  is only another tool in playing.  Would q2dm1 keep it's balance if there wasn't a megahealth, or railgun or chaingun?  This is why mage warehouse or ds warehouse (servers which i do appreciate) have unbalanced q2dm8 with no powerups, no bfg (and no falling damage) it is all about camping(cycling) the yellow armor --I cite this only as an example we all might be familiar with.



and imho random anything would not be worth playing --why not change every weapon into a grenade launcher?

BTW-- Why have i never seen a mod( or maps for that matter) that have only grenades? It seems that almost all players have a love for this weapon( which i do not share ) but i think it would be very popular and fun [ imagine fact3 with all weapons are grenade launchers on vanilla ]. call it TENT server or GRENADE LAWNCHAIR     Oh and traps we must not forget the traps for the icing on the noob cake. 


I state this opinion purely for arguments sake.  I hope to see the TS  500 III  in whatever glory it is played and glad to see it put together and participated in.

  Yes there's more!   my idea for the TS 500 III is to have a random selection of predetermined  maps (vanilla, dm  and pygmy only) and each is to 50 and after the (lets say) twelve maps are played we tally up the scores and see how we did. Is that not ffa? less boring? more fun for more players? Would keep the pros away.    You say Analgasses or Elysium could camp with the railgun and win  --with all due respect  is that not what happens on the servers  everyday since camping  is not discouraged but i digress. We could play it on vanilla2 (to promote it) and i believe all the vanilla players would love to play for isnt that what tastyspleen is all about.   OR play two maps from vanilla, dm,  xatrix, jump, railz, pygmy, ra, wod  and see who is the best at tastyspleen overall  with the final two players on q2dm1 tourney.  OR  since very few maps can handle more than twelve players ( or six for that matter) we could do the maps in heats where only the four best from each heat move on

And people had the nerve to tell me that I was trying to ruin something in the original thread about this...Anyway, there is an option in Q2's settings that says "allow powerups".  Having them off or on is normal Q2 settings.  Only having the Quad on and banning the other powerups is hacking the Q2 settings in some way.  Having all powerups spawning across the map is hacking the Q2 settings.

That's why you take powerups, all or nothing.  I voted for no Quad, which means no powerups.  No need for it in a server filled with people.  Find other ways to speed the game up, but I guess that would require you to actually have full knowledge of the map.

i have a grenades config i had running on some tourney servers.

i'll have to check, but i thought it could be accessed on the wod server(when tourney), and Gumby's Graveyard by vote.

i had it set to grenades and shotgun only.

slows down the game and makes it promote movement above all.  its a fun way to play.  For a map or two.....

Thanks for trying to ruin the thread to get me to respond to you in a negative manner.  Do you read or pretend to act like you know what's going on?  I'll go ahead and prove you wrong by quoting myself.

That might be true if the designers are gods and always make the right decisions. Just because a mapper put a quad in a room doesn't mean it should have been in that room or in the map at all. Some maps have remote areas that don't see much traffic, so they put a powerup there for "balance and playability". In a frag/race-match like this a powerup functions as a shitmagnet, simple as that. If you're at all serious about winning this you'll have no choice but to get the powerups and time them. If you won't you will simply not keep up. Phfft this whole poll thing is so predictable again , almost as predictable as the progression of the match.
