Panic! would have to be the most useless game.  I had the misfortune of owning this on Sega CD.

The whole thing was you push buttons and wierd stuff happens, and all the sound effects were made by mouth :-\, kinda like how Michael Winslow does, only worse.  Though I did spend countless hours playing it :P, I didn't have anything better to play untill I got Lunar 2 (best console RPG ever).

OMG... FF8 and Parasite Eve for PS1
Completely forever turned me away and against any and all RPGs

I'll agree with you on the Parasite Eve, wasn't all that great, but I still played it to the end and beat the extra stuff afterwards.

Though I loved FF8, many times better than FF7 IMHO.  I liked the junction system in FF8, it added a lot of strategy.  The story was pretty good, though it kinda made a weird plot twist there with the orphanage thing, and that little card game they had in it was pretty fun as well.

But don't let two titles turn you away from a genre, there's always a few bad games in every one.

Fallout Tactics - the bastard stepchild of the most fun RPG I've ever played on the PC.
This game took what was a really good premise and a wonderfully rich world/atmosphere and a nifty post-apocalyptic storyline, and turned it into a steaming pile of RTSish dung. Don't play it, whatever you do! (Or you might never enjoy Fallout or Fallout 2 again...)

Killzone for the PS2 was crap. You aren't right very often, but you score a point on this one adrenaline.

One of the most disappointing games for me personally was Halo 2.

Yeah no shit....the multiplayer is so fucking slow it's retarded. That and there is such a huge gap between playing abilities.

Halo is for people with Down Syndrome who can't keep up with Quake.  Without question, Halo gets my nomination for most disappointing game.  Not that I expected anything out of Micro$oft to begin with.

not including the newer games of today (doom3, quake4, half-life 2 which are only good for SP)
id have to say Quake3, its so obvious that game was rushed. sad to, the engine was amazing
the only game that did it justice was RTCW

i wasent into UT much either, but i have to agree that ut2k3 was no where as nice as the original
and ut2k4 just made it worse. hell i dont think its even gunna be an fps game anymore with ut2007
it just totaly went over the line with the inclusion of onslaught

i never played halo, only a few minutes when my dad had it on his computer
so i cant really comment, but its certinly the most over hyped game iv ever known
pure garbage, even if iv never played much :)

But don't let two titles turn you away from a genre, there's always a few bad games in every one.

Let me make sure we're talking about the same game, FF7 had Cloud in it and you juctioned magic with weapons right? FF8 had all your battles done by summoning monsters correct? Thats what I could'nt stand. No matter how bad ass your weapon was, it wouldn't do shit, you had to summon mosters. How lame, I'de go through all this shit to get some bad ass weapon that would'nt do a dam thing, you still had to summon a freekin monster to fight for you.

And yea, I beat both games and got the extra stuff to. How painful that was.

I tried to play other RPGs after those such as FF10, Crono Cross, etc, but i was so wasted on FF8 and PE that I just could'nd get interested in them anymore. I didn't just turn my back on those type of games only because of those two. I had a lot of help in the form of DOOM, DOOM II, Final DOOM, Quake, Duke Nukum 3D, Turok, Golden Eye, Quake II, DOOM64, oh and some Resident Evil, etc...

Yes, FF7 had Cloud and you juctioned your magic (materia) to your weapon.  The juction system in FF8 I refer to is the juction of a GF (don't remember what it stands for now) to a character (i.e., find Shiva and juction her to Squall, juction Ifrit to Quistis, etc...).

While a GF was juctioned to a character that character could be assigned abilities to use in battle, such as "item", "magic", "scan", etc.  As you leveled the GF could learn more abilities for your character to use in battle, or abilities for itself.  Each GF would have the same basic abilities, such as "magic" and "item", but would also have abilities that were specific to that GF.

Now the only time I summoned a GF for battle was during boss fights, they came in real handy there.  As for normal enemies, my weapons did just fine, even the "badass" ones I found.

Now I haven't played to many modern console RPG's, but I will say that FF10 and Crono Cross are not all that great (especially Crono Cross :yuck: ).  A lot of the older RPG's, such as those on the SNES, were a lot better than what you get today.  I don't know if your into retro games, but you might want to check out Secret of Mana, Crono Trigger, and Illusion of Gaia on SNES.  Lunar: The Silver Star, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, and Vay on Sega CD.  The two Lunar games also had remakes on PlayStation which are also worth checking out as well as Legend of Dragoon on PlayStation.  And let's not forget the Zelda games, those are pretty fun.

Final Fantasy X wasn't all that great?  Odd, that happens to be one of my favorite games of all-time.  Great game from start to finish.

And there's nothing really wrong with Halo.  If you start playing it with a biased mindset, then yes, chances are very high that you will not like it.

Personally I thought the original Halo was a pretty damn good game. The single player was great (especially co-op) and legendary mode made a very fun challenege. The multiplayer was also great for a console game (though it was only LAN).

Halo 2 on the other hand seemed to set out to change everything that made the original so great. The single player was absolutely terrible and they changed legendary mode from a once difficult yet fun mode into something this emoticon describes perfectly: . The only difference between playing on normal difficult and legendary mode was the fact that all the sudden master cheif could be killed by two hits and it would take 10x that to kill one enemy. I remember the first level you were on a ship with boxes everywhere and your only available tactic was to sit behind the box while the enemies spammed shots at each side. They would briefly stop and then you would pop out with a charged up plasma shot, shoot it, and then switch to the battle rifle and nail the enemy in the head a few times. You would just repeat that over and over while the enemies stayed two feet in front of the box constantly shooting never even trying to charge at you. This was Bungie's great AI they bragged so much about.

The multiplayer was fun, but filled with tons of glitches and balancing issues. Once you got up to a higher level (I believe 18 or 19 was my highest in team death match) you got standbyed every other game. It just wasn't fun to play with those kinds of circumstances. There's alot of other crap that annoyed me with the multiplayer, but this post is already much too big. Halo 2 was highly anticipated and I think it failed to deliever on almost every level :D.

Props to Dolan for the incredibly ignorant statement. :bravo:
