From the forum posts, and players talking in-game, it seems some people like the interleaved rotation, others can't stand it.I guess we could make a poll or something... But I'm leaning toward restoring the old rotation? Are there any other things we could try? There are 39 SP maps vs. the 8 DM maps. Any other ways of arranging the rotation?Thoughts? Thanks,
Banes:simple, take out 9 of the 30 sp maps and leave all 8 dm maps at the end, assuming we take out the worst sp maps (the slow boring maps), the rotation will go by fast enough to get to the dm maps quickly

I wanted to say thanks for trying this. What I realized is that what _I_ like in quake2 is "fast" maps.Unfortunately, no map roatation will please everyone. Most of the SP maps qualify as "slow" and today I played for a minute and it was about 20 seconds or more to first contact with another player (only about 3 or 4 on) - which was a hopelessy long time - needless to say I bailed after the first frag. We have somehow all gotten used to thinking of these single player maps as good deathmatch maps. They are not designed to be and cannot be good deathmap maps (my opinion of course). What drew me to this server initially was the high traffic - I stayed for the fun and good players and appreciate the admin philosophy. But the _design_ of these SP maps is for single player, not deathmatch and I think that this is why they do indeed play slow and become hopelessly laborious after a while. I'm glad that our little "accident" happened. It did remind me of the fun that I have had playing this game.My vote: Have a "basic 8" deathmatch "time block" every day/week/month as sensible if the ability to do it exists.I will always like Tasty spleen and will never take it from my favorites, but I just can't play those SPs with the same vigor. I think that deathmatch should be the intent of "Mutant" - not simply customs, but focused on "deathmatch" basic 8 & and good fast custom maps (we are almost there). Mutant has very many nice maps and I see that as the predominant DM server. The SP server is more for laid-back-I-want-to-telefrag&play-with-gadgets-maps-while-jogging-so-my-player-does-not-get-fat.Thanks for giving the experiment a chance. One thing I did notice during my play on the "interleaved" rotations is that bailouts on the SP maps were more common than the DMs (perhaps an anomaly during my play). People vote with their feet. I think that that coudl be a "real" indicator if which maps the public really liked and which ones people detested.Later Folks.Habib
