We were on the basic 8 dm rotation cycling thru minus the SP maps. That reminded of why I fell in love with Q2.

I have not had so much fun in over a year. So much that I needed to find this forum again and thank the admins for that little bundle of q2dm1-8 joy.

Glad it was fun! Hmm... it was an accident, the X Window System segfaulted on the comp. that does the vanilla map rotation. $:-\$

Hmmmm... what do you suggest?

Edit: ...For vanilla I mean. Not what do you suggest for the segfault.

Do we need a separate DM maps server? I have presumed it would be redundant, since there have tended to be several other servers running q2dm1-8... But I imagine they are thinning out a bit?

nope im sure you have plenty of those in your life as it is, jus tellin it like it is

i suggest you get a server like that console

or atleast take out the slow paced sp maps and leave the fast ones

I personally think some SP maps could be taken out. The Train map is an insult to my Gaming time

How to process. I don't know. Perhaps a General Poll to know if majority of people want some SP maps out of the server.

Then other polls so as to know which.

I don't like the idea of voting out the maps since each one has something unique about them. I wouldn't be too happy if Outlands (strike) or Main Gate (jail1) were removed. I'm pretty sure that every map is liked by at least one person who plays on vanilla, and it wouldn't be fair to remove their favorite map(s).

What do y'all think about interleaving the SP and DM maps? Would that be better? Or worse?

For ex...

base1 q2dm1 base2 q2dm2 base3 q2dm3 bunk1 q2dm4 ware1 q2dm5 ware2 q2dm6 jail1 q2dm7 jail2 q2dm8 jail3 q2dm1 jail4 q2dm2 jail5 q2dm3 ... etc.

Where the DM maps keep "wrapping" around and around, interleaved thru the SP maps?

Just a random thought...

id play on a dm map ffa server if theres people in it.. i would play on vanilla but i dont like the sp maps.

Yes I do remember your suggestion....! Thanks! ...At the time we didn't have the ability to make arbitrary rotations - but it was finally added to get mutant expanded beyond the small playlist...
