Currently, only vanilla does the quad->railgun replacement. (I think mutant does quad->backpack.)

I could easily set up the DM server to replace quad with rail when powerups are off, but I figured that was heading more into "mod" territory.

Well, probably since a good number of people are really pushing for as close to a true-blue DM server as possible, perhaps just leaving the quad spot empty for the quadless rotations would be best. I don't care too much either way.

Incidentally.... If you enter the server and want to know whether you're on the quad or non-quad rotation without having to go hunt for the quad, just type 'nextmap'. You can infer from the (+pu)'s or (-pu)'s in the list, which rotation you're on.

I was for quad before... but after playing a little more I'm against it... but replace it with SOMETHING cool... i think a backpack is nice...

and wtf happened to dm7mod? One of the arguments before was that dm7mod scares people away from the server, but with it constantly populated now I doubt that would happen. It's just so much nicer than the original... Could you rotate it in every other rotation too? That would be sweeet! Could it be a mymap option?

I know there's heavy resistance to non-stock... but... the map.... has got to be... the shittiest stock map. And the changes are so slight - kind of like the new changes on vanilla that make it sooo much nicer to play - the maps sooo much more balanced. When did all this happen - it's so nice. The rail server as well (when you start out with rail and infinite ammo) is much better.

Yes, there is a heavy resistance against non-stock, but with very good reason.
I'ts the only true stock DM left. And what's wrong with Q2DM7? I'ts my favorite. With enough people it becomes the bloodiest spamfest there is.

And if you put Q2DM7MOD in there, won't that just make others beg for every known variation of Q2DM1 ??? Why not put it in Vanilla, isn't that what it's for? But non-the-less I would be willing to try it every other rotation, if it can even be done, as long as it didn't hurt the stock "feel" of DM.

PS: why did it scare people away from server? I've never played it. What's different about it? Need more input.
Death worked to hard to get people to DM (raising awareness, Listing on Game a holic, etc...) just to run people off now. I already fear this last change has shrunk off some of the population, but even that's to early to tell yet.

Well... I think there was talk of scaring people away because they'd suddenly start downloading a map and decide to take off. I feel that this may happen but a lot will stay on and over time all the regulars will have the new map.

You've never played it? Download it from here and check it out - it's pretty much the same with some nice fine-tuning.

It's quite a nice modification, in my opinion, with one flaw for FFA. The slime-rocket trap was de-fanged to work around a game bug with moving brushes and re-spawning [non-weapon-stay] weapons (or something like that.) But the effect is that the rocket-slime trap is no longer deadly, which seems less fun (to me, and i've heard from others) in an FFA context.

So I'd wish for maybe a q2dm7modB or q2dm7mod2 variation that keeps the various improvements to the map, but leaves the deadly FFA rocket-slime trap. (This is just my opinion, of course.)

Well I tried downloading it earlier and couldn't find it but have since found it.
I was looking for Q2DM7mod, it's actually under just dm7mod.
I've downloaded and will check it out later, I have to go to work right now, but it sounds cool.

PS: I know alot of people can't stand 7, i'm curious why most people don't like it. I find fast and furious and really enjoy the spamfest it sometimes offers. Heck i've even enjoyed it as a 1on1 map. Get the RArmor first, own the map.
