since i'm not really into the whole 1v1 or tdm scene and i don't derive any pleasure from getting my panties in a wad over anything certain people say on "LOL INTERNET" and since I don't live to make polls about stupid shit or have any desire to drive people out of the very small q2 community we have here and I don't like to constantly be invovled in some insignificant controversial arguement, since I'm into this whole q2 thing for the fun of it, I would most certainly play co-op :)

Many if not ALL of us can do Q2 and survive all the maps to the end.

With 2 players against the BOTS, my question is, are there more of them? Are they meaner? More armored?

Peace  :frag:

 - "Many if not ALL of us can do Q2 and survive all the maps to the end. With 2 players against the BOTS, my question is, are there more of them? Are they meaner? More armored?" -

In Co-op you don't have the luxury of connecting with your accumulated weapons/ammo/armor etc that you have in the standard SP game. If the level that has been achieved by previous people is Power Plant, for example, and you connect, you start with a blaster. You may not find any weapons on the higher levels since it is assumed by now you have them all (in the SP game). You will find limited health because someone else grabbed it and it doesn't re-spawn. The TEAM aspect is for someone else to throw you a weapon or grenade so you have something, if you have just connected. And using gang-up tactics on enemies instead of being the single hero.

My experience before with this, is that usually somebody gets through to the end of the level, but lotsa people die during a level becase of the weapon disadvantage. The point is that its a different mindset from Deathmatch. Its strictly for fun and it needs co-operation to play. Many beginners who are intimidated by DM will play this.

For format it could have any of the following:

1) Set on HARD skill.
2) No cheats (obviously)
3) Other Quake variants like the one TooMuchFun suggested.
4) Maybe The Reckoning Single Play - much harder than Quake 2.
5) P_Kick vote for those insist on killing teamates.
6) More monsters added? Sure - Panjoo's the expert here.

And Ground Zero is even hard in SP with all those goddamn laser turrets and wall mounted rocket launchers :)

Co-op has always kicked butt. I think I've played co-op in every game that supported it with my old gaming buddy on our little diehard Lan's. Games like Q2, Delta Force, Serious Sam(s)<-not for the impatient:), Will Rock, Far Cry etc. But the amount of new games that still support the mode is getting smaller and smaller.

I don't know if you guys have ever heard of the Coop-or-Die Mod, but here are some links;
