Q2 Tournament Maps Nominations (Locked)

It would be great for some people to post good 1vs1 map ideas for what they would like to see in the tournment. The Edge will be one map simply for the fact that most people know that map. Any other suggestions for maps will be apprieciated. After we get some map ideas, a poll will probably go up with the top maps people suggested to see which ones will make it in. Also any other map related ideas people have will be helpful too.

I don't think edge is a good map for 1v1.. more like 3v3.

Rene51 is a good 1v1 map. So is c23.

I like the ztn maps as well as the rene maps.....I think that Edge gives an unfair advantage to those who ONLY play Edge.....and I'm not one of those types of players....but I'm sure that you guys will come up with an even playing field. And if it turns out to be Edge....I'll deal with it.
I'm at work now....Ill post a few of my fav's to 1v1 on when I get home and can refresh myself on the map names.

As far as I know, levels is a Rail-Only map.

Surely if we host a Rail-Only Tournament it'll be a valuable nominee.

q2dm1 is a definate must, its the bread and butter of q2 1v1, you should start practicing now as this is probably the best map for 1v1 at this time, and its been around for a while as have gxmods been available, to the best players not knowing how to play it is something akin to not knowing how to work a chain gun

q2dm3 is another great map for 1v1, you can still dl great demos of immortal vs thresh on this map

ztn maps are great 1v1 maps and have served gxmod and osp servers for some time

Just to add something about the map nominations, we will be taking them for 2-3 more days from now so that way we can post a poll on what maps should be used and people can have a little extra time to practice on them ect.

imo, we should follow the biggest tourney of them all in terms of map list

therefore the maps should be edge, frag pipe, rage, and painkiller, thats q2dm1, q2dm3, ztn2dm2, ztn2dm3

get that map list going on the main tourney server, AND PEOPLE START PRACTICING I SEE THAT SERVER EMPTY ALL THE TIME WHY WHY WHY

First of all, we are not trying to mimic the professionals nor to fit in any mould of Road-to-Glory. Second, we're not QuakeCon, Exactly. If you noticed, Tastyspleen is into Custom maps, because its community asked for. Mutant is full-custom, and even Vanilla has some. I believe I am right when I say that a majority of people are here for Custom maps - or are excited by it.

There are tons of maps which can be fit for 1on1, but haven't got their chance. Why don't we give them?

The maps you listed are taken as Nominations, and if that is the will of the Participants, the poll will prove you right. And we'll host the same maps as QuakeCon.

ztn maps ARE custom maps, the only map i suggested that wasnt was dm1 and dm3, dm1 is already nominated, you can take out dm3 if you want custom maps

then lets do ztn maps, i doubt most people on here have played those maps in a competitive 1v1 environment before anyway, and they are proven good, theses maps may be old but they are still good CUSTOM maps that many may not be familiar with

I'm absolutely for Ztn maps. But there is not gonna be only 2 custom maps in the Tournament. And we won't restrict the tournament to four maps. That's the point I was trying to make.

how many maps would you like?

assuming finals are best 3 out of 5, the most maps they will play will be 5, and if you have 5 maps, then they wont even play repeat maps, i guess its nice to have variety, but too much variety can throw things out of wack, too much randomness, too many maps to learn

well before i start jumping to conclusions, how many maps exactly do you want this tournament to have? i mean assuming the ztn maps get chosen, along wtih the edge, thats already 3, if frag pipe is in thats 4, although it may not be since its not a custom map, then we'll have some other maps that may be intended for rails, or they may be amateur map makers creating 1v1 maps that may have some problems to them, and also with polling, familiarity becomes an issue, wed have to actually play this maps in rotation to vote on them, but if you put too many (namely on a 1v1 server) you'll have a hard time getting alot of people to experience those maps, especially since hardly anyone goes to the 1v1 server, despite my goading them
