Of course q2dm1 would almost have to be one map...And should we do 2 outta 3 maps onevone?Say q2dm1 1st then 2 other maps..?

And Ill volunteer to be a ref for some matches.

Course you cant call yourself ranked unless you goto qCon and play the tourneys there.Ill be there..to lose .

What About:

1st Round : q2dm1
2nd Round: (Voted)
3rd Round: (voted)
Etc...
Final: q2dm1

That way, half the losers of the tournament couldn't blame the map

and we'd behold a Proper Final.
For the subsequent rounds (2nd rnd, 3rd rnd, quarter, semis etc..) there could be custom maps voted by the participants.

Just throwing this.

Just had to add something about the irc server: The admin of the server has an autoscript up to ban anyone who joins the server and quits in under 2 minutes. So if you do join, keep that in mind. If I could do anything about it I would, but then again it isn't my server

But feel free to join and idle as long as you wish.

Wow... that sounds pretty obnoxious... thx for the heads up.

There's also: irc.edgeirc.net which is primarily quake2 related, and allows registered nicks.

So if irc.gwar.net becomes a problem (your cat jumps on your keyboard and disconnects you before two minutes and you get banned

) I'd recommend irc.edgeirc.net as an alternative...

Well the OSP server is running at q2.lostourminds.net:27930 in mode 3 (1v1) with a limited map list
several maps seem to crash it at map changes (like tltf, rene34) working to figure it out. But give it a try to see
how it is working.

Well I think 'server' is not the problem..

I think the best deal is how the heck we're going to 'organize' this.

We need to create a schedule of games, and before gettin that. We need a list of players. So I think it would be good to each of us post your info and sayin that you are really interested on play a tournament. Also the best time, so we can 'survey' serious players and try to arrange best time/days for all of us.

Weekends morning/afternoon.

After creatin the list of 'possible' players we can setup matches 1v1 or FFA within 'random' selected users. I dunno something like that.

i am open to compete weekends and any weekday after six pm eastern.

We have a channel in irc at enterthegame server, #btf if anyone wants to contact us or idle there(its insanity i tell you!!).

i would be up for admining or reffing some matches too.

I've been away all weekend and i seem to have missed alot.

Perhaps what we should do now is start collecting names for the tournament. If you're interested in participating or refereeing (sp?) then either join irc.gwar.net 6660 #insomnia and let either me or EyE sTrAiN (deadman_walking) know or post on the tournament signup thread.

It would be nice to get a group of admnis/refs together and start really organizing the whole thing, so again, if you want to be a ref just post on the tournament signup thread.

About the Schedules. In the majority of the 'Internet' tournaments Ive played - Each round normally corresponds to 'one week'. So you have one week to organize your match againt your opponent. That means, contacting him, and setting up a time. I believe it's the best way. Of course we all know scheduled match for the whole bunch of players will not work for everyone.

So perhaps in the Signup Thread people should leave their MSN so that they can be contacted. (or Email).

remove BFG/invul/quad from all tourney maps

I mean, i consider that most of us (possible tourney players) we are 'mature' enough to handle games without that. so please.. remove that.

Just FYI....Clan {KEA} has a working Tourney server with voteable configs all team play at - 217.160.242.35:27912

3 modes of play:

1. Edge Only,Weap Stay Off, Normal TeamDM
2. Customs, Weap Stay On, Votable Maps, Voteable Hook, Normal TeamDM
3. Customs, Weap Stay On, Voteable Maps, Voteable Runes, Rail Only, Hook Enabled, Normal TeamDM

And I can tell ya that it was a project figureing out how to get it to run properly...so if you guys are having problems getting this set up....I'd be glad to try to help.

i take q2 1v1 pretty seriously, so maybe i can add a few suggestions, and ive been in a lot of tourneys as well

as far as the pros go, for these type of tourneys, the best maps to use would be the edge, frag pipe and ztn maps, i think everyone here should have played ztn maps before, we should vote on those as they have been the staple for 1v1 gx mod and osp servers for some time

i am a little dissapointed that it wont be a gxmod orientated server, but osp should do fine

i was thinking double elimination would be nice, we could get brackets from www.foosballheaven.com or www.playpool.com, also two out of three matches would be better imo to eliminate any fluke factor (personally i think 3 out of 5 would be the best but that may take too long so maybe we can save that for finals) first to 10 frags, if this seems too little we can make it to 15, but honestly its a pretty slipperry slope in q2 1v1 and 15 may just be prolonging it, i dont expect many close matches in the beggining anyway, well maybe newb on newb lol

maybe ill finally get my chance to 1v1 jquest, and he wont be able to chicken out this time

p.s. props to clan kea for getting a working tourney server, is this where the tourney will be held? if not i recommend tasty spleen start up their own tourney server as soon as possible so we can all begin practicing 1v1 on the same server we will be playing on to get used to the ping and settings
