why are Skyline and Detector still not banned?

I'm curious as to why Skyline and Detector are not banned yet - they blatently hack and even admit to it yet they're able to play freely on TS servers.

Here's a demo of Skyline (aliased as facefukr) just taken a few minutes ago, hacking away and trash talking like usual - enjoy

Not, but, I was told you were online when they were hacking last time and didn't ban them - plus I think almost everyone in the community would tell you they're both blatent hackers - and have been for many years.

yea thats so weird.....it seems like everyone in q2 knows they do, yet for some strange reason console needs to see demos of them actually doing it.....lol....theyve been doing it for years.....im sure console knows they hack.....whether he wants to do shit about it is a different story.....

Well - my question was directed at titties.  You did post a demo, and I thank you for that, and I'm watching it.

As far as being online before... a) we have several admins, b) being "online" for us usually means just seeing text, unless we join the game under an alias or record a serverdemo to watch later.  I don't recall personally being online (either with text or in-game) during a "skyline/detector" episode.  But I think you'll find all of our admins are dead set against letting cheaters play on our servers.

Basically it costs money and time to maintain the servers.  We hate cheaters.  But it helps a lot when people post demos like you did.

prove it.....im assuming in your serveral years of running these servers you've caught people cheating....well, who were they? are they currently banned?

i have a hard time believing that this will be your first time receiving a demo of either skyline or detector hacking......console, you would look much more innocent if you just said "yes we know there are hackers....we've seen them before...but for some reason they are able to change their ips".....that is what i was expecting you to say....but instead, you act oblivious...almost like youve never even heard of these people before....makes you look very suspicious......

Yeah, we wouldn't want that thing called evidence to get in the way of a good banning...  Hersay is the best evidence I guess! I watched the demo, and it does look like a waller to me, and since I have never played with either one of them, the demo is needed to make an assessment of the accusation; or we could just accuse anyone of hacking/walling/whatever and ban on the assumption rather than the evidence.

There are indeed many facets to the problem when you apply it over years' time.  If it would help, I can work on some script to display our active ban list on some web page somewhere.  I can also post the current list here.  Yes: IPs change over time (thus the recent d1tzu episode.)  Additionally, there are a number of q2 mods besides tdm/1v1.  We try to recruit volunteer admins with knowledge of each q2 mod we host, if we can.

OK... That was my attempt to take a Zen approach to calmly replying.  My next reply would borrow from Hunter Thompson and read, "Dear Titties, ... You filthy skunk-suking bastard!" 

In any case, there are multiple issues.  Yes, players' IPs change over the years.  In the past, we have dumped whole ban lists after several years--essentially declared amnesty and started over--because accumulating ISP and IP-subnet bans over a number of years just equates to whole ranges of players blocked where the original cheater may have long since moved from that neighborhood.  We've also developed software to ban ISP/IP-subnet ranges but filter known legit players through the bans.  (Sometimes your only choice is to ban all of Hawaii because of some ISP's dynamic IP's... but then you get multiple emails from legit (or presumed legit) players who happen to live in the same state who wonder why they're banned... So we coded up ways to arrange for holes in the bans, etc...)

Anyway... it's--at least on nights like this--a full time job, and there's no paycheck.  If you'd care to search the forums for any other demos of "Detector/Skyline", as far as I know, f4t4l's was the first one posted.

Our current banlist includes: Swinging Beef / chalupa, vauchy, vga_slugs, d1tzu, QKmOrPh/Achilles, damien the dest, greg/ShutUpAndPlay, Cuntsole, Gayboy.

I am not personally familiar with the antics of "Detector/Skyline", any more than you are probably familiar with the incorrigable menace of long-time hackers like chalupa and vauchy.  So what?  Show me a convincing demo, and they'll get banned.  I don't think it's too much to ask.

titties, you do not know xpoze / detector, stop pretending that you do. You do not know anything about whether they were caught or not, you just listen to people on the server saying that they've been hacking for years and it makes your nipples hard. Also, I doubt that console takes your opinion lacking any evidence at all seriously.. especially when you've accused someone like me of not only walling, but 'ping hacking'. Nowhere in this entire site are any of your posts close to forming any kind of reasonable question, actual conversation, or conclusive argument. Why would you ask quadz to 'prove' that the admins here are against cheaters? Wow, you're a dumbass. Do you think they like cheaters on the only active set of q2 servers left? oh and console, i think the site is down but the assassins gx site used to have a ban list of people who were caught using cheats on their servers. If memory serves me correct 'detect0r' was on there several times.
