Hi,

I didn't see anything unusual in the logs. The thing is, without forcing people to use a specific client (meaning: a hypothetical anti-cheat client that is regularly updated), detecting any but the most obvious hacks is not feasible programmatically.

Since q2 is open source, people don't have to use proxys anymore. It takes literally one line of code in the GL renderer in q2 to make a wallhack. I'm not giving anything away by saying that, because it would be obvious to any programmer.

(However, that simple kind of wallhack is not enough to get around the server's anti-wallhack features. The full story there is when I updated the configs and rebooted tourney4 a few nights ago, I accidentally loaded an old config with the anti-wallhack protection turned off. So that skyline demo was recorded on tourney4 with no wallhack protection on the server--so any old wallhack would have worked. Once I watched the demo I realized something was wrong, and turned the anti-wallhack protection back on.)

So, yes, that's why we ask for demos. Because automatic detection of hacks is generally not possible, except for catching a few newbies using poorly-written hacks. Ultimately, eyeballing it is our only real defense.

I think a player calling himself "Obvious" has a new Proxy. 200+ ping, perfect rails, 0 lag in his movements, Always on top of you no matter where you respawn.
But I don't have a Demo, so i'll defintly keep eye out for this one and try to get a demo.
