SOME IDEAS ABOUT EXTRATERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE

Here are some of my thoughts about why we haven't yet found evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence.


1. We are trying to communicate with outdated equipment.
 
Most SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) programmes rely on detecting intelligent radio communications from outer space. Think about this. How long has radio existed here on Earth? Two hundred years at the most? And already it is fast becoming obsolete, giving way to faster, more efficient modes of communication such as cable, lasers, and various microwave mediums. So, radio in that respect is a very short-lived and rapidly outdated communication medium. Two hundred years in the timescale of the universe is a very small blink of the eye indeed. Yet our intrepid SETI crusaders pour millions of dollars, recourses, hopes, and dreams into the idea that they might just catch an extraterrestrial civilisation right when they happen to be communicating by radio. Seriously, I think that my grandchildren will laugh about the very idea of radio communication in a few decades' time, in exactly the same way that you and I laugh about our grandparent's old vinyl phonograph records today.


2. We could be a nature reserve.

We humans like to set aside areas of our native forests as nature reserves here on Earth. In these places, it is forbidden to harm the flora and fauna. One mantra posted upon signs along the trails that I remember walking as a kid was "Take Nothing But Photographs, Leave Nothing But Footprints". Maybe that's what Earth could be, a galactic nature reserve under the protection of some benevolent extraterrestrial civilisation. The extraterrestrials might simply refrain from stomping around on our planet for the exact same reason, that they consider us a sort of galactic "nature reserve". This might also explain why we never get to see them.


3. Incomprehensible forms.

Who says that extraterrestrial beings need to be made of physical blood and guts anyway? Typically human, just like the seventeenth century Englishmen who said that the "Africans" can't possibly be human because of the colour of their skin and their "atrocious" religious practices. Maybe we cannot conceive of an extraterrestrial being being anything other than blood and guts at this stage, but maybe that says more about the limits of our imagination than it does about what may or may not exist in the vastness of space.


5. The goldilocks zone.

This is a bit of a follow-on from the Drake Equation. SETI folks tend to target extrasolar planets within the so-called "goldilocks zone" around stars as the most likely places to find extraterrestrial life. What is the goldilocks zone? It is where we would feel most comfortable, not too hot and not too cold. So, because we would like it there, everyone else in the universe must, too. Arrogance, arrogance, arrogance. Really, it's all about me.


6. My bacteria hypothesis.

Imagine that you are a single-celled bacterium living on the skin of a human being. Very likely you will be entirely unaware of the person (host) that you are infesting, simply because that person is too large for you to see. Could we here on Earth be a little like this, with extraterrestrial intelligence existing right under our noses but being simply too big, metaphorically, for us to see?

There is no doubt in my mind we are the result of an intelligent creation and not a cosmic accident. here is my reasoning...

Science means knowledge. For something to be a scientific fact it has to be able to be tested over and over with the same results every time. keeping this in mind I want to dispel the biggest fraud in science today and that is evolution..

there is not a single shred of evidence evolution is true. it has never been observed. I have never seen a pond scum evolve to a higher order. i have never seen a rock evolve into humans. Funnily enough that is actually written in biology text books, it rained on a rock for millions of years and the rock became soup which gave rise to pond scum.

So that out of the way I have never observed life come from non life. i have never observed life come from an explosion (This is what the original big bang theory was but they say a microscopic dot of intense heat expanded)

Either way the big bang theory and evolution are just that a theory, A belief system, a religion on its own. it's not science yet they teach it as actual fact.

I do believe a higher intelligence exists, i believe life is so incredibly complex there is no way it was by accident. If i was to show you a computer and told you it evolved over millions of years from pond scum you would look at me like i was crazy.  A single cell packs more information than the entire encyclopedia britanica. the human eye and brain is so complex but yet you evolved from pond scum. The human body millions of times more complex than any computer yet people refuse to even use their brains. it's wilful ignorance

Hey now..  vinyl has made one hell of a comeback.

As for using radio, and looking in that part of the spectrum..
Lots of other types of transmitions are common throughout the universe and tend to get drowned out.  There is a particular range in frequency that is pretty quiet,  and that’s where they are focusing on.  The thought being that an advanced civilization interested in broadcasting to other civilizations would be able to figure out the best frequency to be heard on.   I’m pretty sure the signals we have sent out intentionally match that as well..   haven’t checked.


Goldilocks zone is more about the possibility of liquid water,  maybe arrogant to think that’s a requirement for life...  but it’s based on the one example of a semi advanced civilization we have (who still thinks iPhones are a neat idea), so it’s a pretty good place to start.

Here's what you do:

Walk into a bar. Or onto a sports field, or a political meeting. Or a college campus.

See which man has a pretty lady on his arm.

It generally won't be the geek or the disabled guy or the person who is getting no votes.

It will be the strong, physically fit, socially adept, and successful man.

That man has sex with the pretty lady.

Subsequently, strong, healthy, able-bodied babies are born.

Those strong babies grow up and repeat the process.

The net result is that, over generations, strong genes are promoted and weak genes are suppressed.

That's evolution. Also known as "survival of the fittest".

It's very simple, and no Bible required.

Saying that the goldilocks zone is a good place to start looking for extraterrestrial life is wrong on so many fronts. First, that's exactly the sort of mindset that the English had when they went to Africa: Because the people they found there didn't fit their "goldilocks zone" they deemed it perfectly fine to enslave them. Secondly, the people doing the searching are going to be doing so through the narrow lens of their own life experience (usually white Anglo Saxon or a derivative thereof). The Massai of Africa or the Australian Aborigines might look for entirely different things. Probably, none of us really know what we're looking for. I just think it's arrogant to assume that any potential extraterrestrial entity must necessarily favour what we humans deem to be the "goldilocks zone".

How does that prove evolution? If survival of the fittest proves evolution, then that makes death the hero of the plot. In order for survival of the fittest to be true and accurate, it means billions had to die to get us there. Also if evolution was true, It teaches that things improve over time with each generation. I have never observed things getting better over time, in fact the world is on a fast track to decline.

I would also like to point out I have never observed fish evolve into humans. I have ever only seen dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, humans produce humans. evolution says the common ancestor is pond scum. Gonna have to do better than that tubster

Yes, you could actually say that "death is the hero of the plot" because death weeds out the unfit genes.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it ain't so.

I hate to watch nature programmes on TV where they show the lion attacking a small or lame deer. It makes me sick to watch it, but just because it makes me or you sick doesn't mean it's wrong. It's just nature, and that's unfortunately how evolution works.

And that's exactly how it works with us humans too, only with us humans we fight it out on the football field or in the nightclub. But the result is basically the same - the winner gets to pass on their genes and the loser (figuratively) dies.

As for fish evolving into humans, that was a gradual process played out over millions of years. Google "lungfish" or "mudskipper" and then get back to me.

Unless you can prove that COVID was produced in a lab you are just pissing into the wind.

I am happy to engage when you provide me with proof that COVID was produced artificially as you suggest, otherwise I will continue to listen to the scientists and government of my country in our effort to defeat this pandemic in the manner that they see fit.

Really? Do it in a lab. Show me the proof life came from chemicals and where did these chemicals come from? It has never happened, has never been done in a lab. Why? Because you can't get life from non life

Really? I have never observed this. No one has but its actual fact according to britannica 

 And your school biology text book tells you it rained on a rock for millions of years, Turned into soup eventually and life sprung forth.
