I sure hope FTL communication and FTL travel is possible. I'd love to see the quasars up close someday.

1) Great predictions and I, overall, agree with them. I don't think they are too outlandish.

2) Yes, with quantum connections faster than light communication is possible. Given that matter = energy and that there is significant theory upon wich matter = energy = information (from a quantum perspective), then this could imply that FTL communication may be FTL travel. Certainly from a remote presence standpoint it could be.

Regarding Einstein-Rosen-Podolsky pairs... My recollection is that it's supposed to be a way to create to particles that are quantum-connected, and which stay quantum-connected even if you move them apart from each other. And so if you apply the right kind of change to particle A, some reflection of that change instantaneously appears at particle B, no matter how far away particles A and B now reside.

So if we created the ERP pair in Dallas, and took one half of the pair by boat or innertube or airmail to London (or spaceship to Mars), there would be some theoretical means of instant communication between those points, because the pair are still quantum-linked.

(Apologies if I've stated this incorrectly, it's just based on a recollection of reading about it 15 or so years ago...)

100 years ago we thought Flight was impossible, we thought alot of things were impossible. New technology creates new limits. We think theres no way we're going to get lan like pings overseas, well don't doubt, Humanity is always striving to do better.

Watch, soon we'll have a 1 Terrabyte UP AND DOWN Backbone which will allow us to download at incredible speeds up to 50-100 megabits a second.

New technology, replacing the fibre optic cable will allow us to connect in an almost "insant" connection to any part of the world.

200 years from now we're going to have SPACE SHIPS Capable of speeds faster than light, (Warp speed), and all those things in Star Trek

10-15 years? Think of where the pc was 10-15 years ago. In 96 I was using a 386.
I can only assume the "x86" type cpu will be long dead by then, only available by emulators, fast as they may be. But seriously, if anyone's thinking Q2 in 10-15 years, it will only be as old-timers in what is known as today's Mahjong set. Will we still use QWERTY input devices in 10-15 years? The internet should be so hyper-broadband based by that time that even the thought of an old simple game like this would only appeal to nostalgiacs.

Of course, that said, take a listen to I.G.Y. by Donald Fagen sometime, and see that the oh-so-futuristic predictions of those in the 1950's didn't quite pan out, lol.

I'd like connection speeds to be fast enough that we can play euros, russians, and asians without major ping issues.

And deft, hopefully a better game comes out by then, but don't hold your breath.

It's really up to you guys. I pledge to keep the tastyspleen.net servers up as long as long as people are playing games on them.

Heck even if people stoped playing altogether I'd probably leave them up as some sort of functioning q2 museum or something.
