in all honesty.. with the exception of the late announcement of time/date.. i think the last one ran quite well..

I do like A2G's suggestion about an NA/Euro tournament.. but I can't say for sure we might gather the same intrest fr a euro one, unless some euro players push that idea in thier own scene..

Well, We could hold a seperate one for the euro..Since they will have better times and pings to play with.  Though I don't see how this couldn't be fixed with the time issue.  We simply have the tourney early in the afternoon or something.  And to clarify, there wasn't a late announcement of the date or time completely.  from the start I said a saturday, and almost 2 weeks prior to the match beginning, I stated to majikslug that it wouldn't be until the week after the next.  At the very least, I gave a little over a week.  which should be almost enough time.  Like I stated before, The first one wasn't probably going to go completely smooth, and thats understandable.  I spent alot of my time messaging people and answering their questions and concerns, and dealing with trouble makers.  By comparison of time differences and gathering people together for matches, it is much difficulty for a 20+ person FFA than a 2vs2 FFA.  A time must be set so that as many people as there can be will be able to participate, while setting up only 4 players can be quite easy.  I enjoyed watching though, since there was alot of good players there, and very good playing ethics.  Hardly any camping or spawn raping (compared to vanilla).  I also think its very respectable that the players that were soo far behind, who had no hope for winning, still played until the end.  Everyone had fun, and thats what I'm glad to see.

I know it's horrifying, but let's flip it and look at it from 'the customer is always right' perspective.  Meaning, if there is a perception that more time was needed between the announcement of the final date/time, and the match itself--well, then, that is the reality we're dealing with.  The fact that the perception exists and that folks are willing to share that with us is positive, because it gives us specific information about the nature of the communication challenge we face for next time.  Arguing that peoples' perceptions are incorrect is, at best, nonproductive--and my own perception (however incorrect it may be) is that there was something like a day and a half notice between the final date/time and the actual game.

So (to state probably the obvious) I'm hearing people say there needs to be at least a week or two span between when the final, precise date/time for the tourney is announced, and the date when the match will be played.

Somethng like that?

That would be my words exactly...that is if I could express myself that well in english. :P

Personnaly I wasn't even aware of the date until I noticed it was over with the screenshot on the frontpage.

Though I wasn't following the tournament too closely, I'd say the same.  I wasn't aware until the announcement on the server network, and even checked GOTO for which server was being used so as to spectate.  I really wanted to play for 30min here and there before deciding to sign up or not, then - if I did - ramp my stamina to the exact time.  Without a server to do that on there was no way I'd embarrass myself by taking part.  That's why I suggested a semi-dedicated server for this on both continents.

I wonder what Eelpout would've said had I tried playing.

If I repeat myself it's because people didn't read what I typed before or claim I didn't say it in the first place.

I already stated I would give 2 weeks notice, I've already had several people requesting this.  It will be done!   ;)
