TASTY 500 FFA 2: SUGGESTIONS

Well, even though we didn't have as many players as we wanted, it still was an awesome game of skill and endurance.  You can notice after about 300 frags, everyone was wearing thin.  Anyways, Give your suggestions for the 2nd time around.  I know some of you couldn't make it because of the timing.  I will try my best to set a proper time for the majority.  And also, I will have voting on various aspects of the settings.

Make it so that the people who die the most get a handicap, like more spawn protection time, say if they've died 3 times in a row.

I doubt that is an option with any mod.  And I'm not a programmer, so I doubt that will work out.    Try Stepping to the side once you spawn, that might atleast give u a chance.

GIVE AT LEAST TWO WEEKS NOTICE NEXT TIME. One  days notice is not enough thats why only 13 players showed up. I was hoping for at least 20.

I dunno about the rest of you, but i could have gone for 1000 frags. At 500 frags I was like.. thats it??

digency:  I gave about a weeks notice for the day, and I asked in the signup thread who would be available.  Since the start, I said It was going to probably be on a saturday since this is when most people are universally available, also I stated almost 2 weeks ago that It would begin the next weekend coming up..  So I believe I gave fair warning of when it was going to begin.  Hopefully people will check for updates atleast every few days or so,  and read every post.  Not just the last posts, because that seems what some were doing.  They kept asking questions that had already been answered.  Anywho, It still went quite well imo.  Not too many or too little.  We had around 25 signups or so, and most just simply couldn't make it on time because of unchangable obligations such as work. No matter what number we have, I would always expect atleast 25% unable to make it due to their own reasons.

As for 1000 frags, that will be voted on the next time.  Though, it makes the title 'Tasty 500' a bit pointless.  Tasty 1000?  nah.  Maybe we'll just keep it '500' or make it 'Tasty 500 X2'  It would be nice to see how tired/skillful people are after 500 frags, and still have 500 left.

Hopefully this event generated some buzz, so more people will signup.  But really, if we get over 30 players on at once, It will be crowded in those smaller maps.  So if we do go anything over 30 ever, some or all q2dm* maps may be out of the question.

500 frags seemed to work ok.

It would be cool to have one on sewer64 or one of the other two 64-player maps.

Well, I favor the *64 maps, and some of the other larger ones.  Not only because they're spacious and allow for more 'laid back' gameplay, along with other elements, BUT also because they contain loads of weapons/ammo/powerups/armor.  Plus, you probably won't have 5 or more people shooting around you.  I hate pressing the fire button dead aim on a target, and then getting fragged from behind.

Well i.m.o, the last amount was a fine amount of people for the map, the map was already kind of full with just that many, and any more would have resulted in just spawn raping (which happened alot, by the rocket launcher) to a massive scale, so unless you have upwards of 20 on the 64 player maps, dont use a 64 player map.. read the name people! designed for 64 players .. but 20 + would be alright, it would go on alot longer though, also I think it should be earlier for us european guys, pan/panjoo, daelmun and a few other euros didnt play because it was damn late, i didnt get to bed till 4am woman! =), I vote a few good maps would be - q2dm2, q2dm5, city64.. pretty fun maps there that would just about hold around 15-20..

This is what I would have done.  You can use these as suggestions for your next TS 500 (or ts 1000)

1. I would have held it on a Sunday. Most people are available on Sunday than on Saturday.
2. Have signups open for 2 Weeks and close them at the end of the 2nd week. Then you send an email to everybody signed up,
that the TS will be held in exactly 2 weeks from that date, with specific times, server etc..
3. I suggest you open signups for TS 500 2, like NOW, cuz the more people signing up the more chances of people playing, have the signups open for 1 month.
PICK A SPECIFIC date like NOW for the TS2 500, how about the weekend of April 23/24? This way people have a whole month to free themselves and prepare for the TS tourney, and you can send them an email in two weeks, one weeks and one days notice telling them the information about the TS tourney. I know it sounds like a lot of work but i think if you do it like this you can get at least 20-30 players playing and thats would be realling exciting.

NOT SATURDAY. Many have work/school/college the next day, and its bloody late, so that will knock a few off unless you set the time really early.. saturday was the better idea, no ts 1000 either =/ it might get tediuous for the average joe who doesent like ffa that much, and just wants to participate.

1000 frag is a true test of stamina, if you cant be a man bear the whole 1000 frags, thats too bad. I doubt we'd get a 1000 frag TS, but I would definately play all 1000 frags.

If we are holding one per month, I doubt I could provide prizes everytime.  BUT, we shall see.  I'm broke enough as it is :)   ...If only I could print out t-shirts..j/k
