The average was 75min or less for 500 frags on the old Q2DM8 same-map servers (minimum 100 for 15min, though some of us could hit 120-125 with regularity making it only an hour if enough people were on the server), but rarely would I play more than one or two full sessions, and 30min total was easily enough unless I entered in the middle of one.  I think it's rather unhealthy to sit absolute still for 90min and wouldn't be willing to try 1000 unless there was huge prize money involved.  So...

• 500 frags is enough, more might be unhealthy (chair ass)
• Held at least once per season, at most once per month (Tasty 500 Spring or Tasty 500 March)
• Minimum two-week signup/one-week notice for monthly fragfests unless held on the exact same date/first ***day of the month; tripled for seasonals
• A dedicated server (which can be passworded when necessary) and time of contest for each continent (i.e. 9PM, Saturday on Goatass for North America, assuming it's in Chicago; whatever time and day on Euro3 for Europe, assuming it's in Berlin) that plays the required map 24/7 for the entire month leading up to the next tournament so both the map and connection can be tested outside tournament conditions as well as allowing more practice and players on said servers

With the above suggestions you have the makings of a more consistent system and honing one's game to a different purpose other than TDM/CTF/etc.  Also, there won't be arguments started about pondpings for either community playing on the other's servers.  This turns out to be 24 tournaments (twelve sets of two held very close together) for monthly and eight for seasonals, with the advantage of seasonals being split every month and a half.  The North American players have four to play in having their normal connections and a choice of whether to participate in the European versions, and vice versa.  Just having four per year might not drum up enough support or interest while twelve or more Tastyspleen may have a problem with, as said previously (still, it'd be nice).  I'm not looking for prize money, as I think offering such for online tournaments is somewhat ridiculous.  It's bad enough people altering files and getting away with things I think are cheating, but if this becomes too competitive we might not be able to convince anyone massive cheating isn't occurring.

I'll look through the other suggestions later, just throwing these out as is.

So you think the 5-8 hour sessions that I normally play Q2 might be a bit much?

I bet logs can verify That I play on tastyspleen more frequently, and for longer periods of time than ANYONE else.  just a guess, but I'm pretty sure.

Reflex plays a lot, although half the time I think he's afk.  Some of those vanilla players seem to live on that server.

in all honesty.. with the exception of the late announcement of time/date.. i think the last one ran quite well..

I do like A2G's suggestion about an NA/Euro tournament.. but I can't say for sure we might gather the same intrest fr a euro one, unless some euro players push that idea in thier own scene..

Yeah,  90 minutes was cake   I too normally do as few as 4 hours a night,  and as many as 12 (or more).

Heh,  ghost   ya dont get 13,000 frags on tourney servers from being afk ALL the time   but I agree I am
afk alil too much.  mostly checking on the forums here n there,  and I do spend alot of time watching ppl play.

The idea of a 24 hour marathon on vanilla or any of the ffa servers sounds fun,  see who can get the most
in a 24 hour period.  Lets ppl play when they can,  as long as they can. 
As for the tasty500,  any setup that is agreed/implimented is fine by me,  the last one went off wonderfully.
