very recent innovation, only works with q2pro, and is really only a convenience not an edge

its like having your nades say 3 2 1, you can know how long it is going to be without that... doesn't take a fuckin genius to figure out how long 3 seconds is

same exact thing with the damage sounds saying 75, 50, kill me now, etc... they ARE different whether you modify them or not, so changing them to say numbers just makes it more convenient

most people don't bother with that kind of shit because it is annoying

most positional awareness and sound knowledge is very situational... you hear combinations of things, you know how your opponent moves or what they want, and there is a small guessing factor

if the sound is tapering off too much to give you a more 3D experience, then you likely will be handicapped by the distance at which you can clearly hear things to make smarter decisions

Jesus Christ, 2dum, just when I think you're done being stupid, you usher in a whole new level of dumb.  You really are keeping up with your name on here.

Do you seriously not notice sounds in-game?  A person with really good speakers can notice "depth perception" in q2, let alone headphones.  I don't get why you think calling everyone a cheat is better than actually trying to learn something by playing.  There are almost no cheaters left in this game that play it on a professional level.  In Europe, there's only one that is well known - Razor.  That's pretty much it.  Here in America no one cheats.

I will give you one honest bit of advice.  Start trying to listen to sounds by spectating in 1v1s, and you'll notice there's certain volumes/directions/types of sounds that let you know damn near everything that's going on in a game.  It's not some mystery.  You just haven't been paying attention.

and lo and behold, i find this 3 chime mega health sound that makes sure you hear when the mega is grabbed

this is quite funny because yesterday i played someone who "snuck in" and grabbed mega without me hearing the mega sound... or his spawn for that matter. I went to grab mega after i killed him (near the mega room) and sat on the box for 1 min wasting time thinking it was about to pop up

SO ANOTHER SOUND that should be unmodified is indeed modified...... AND I AM THE ONE WHOS CRAZY

Check the "items" download of that page, the "m_health" portion of that ZIP to be exact. There's 5 different sounds there you can use. You're welcome, tweedle dumbass.

i think that mega sound is kinda cool.

i used to have an armor sound that was a regular armor sound, and then 20 seconds later you would hear 'beep....beep...beep....BEEEEEP', rofl. although if you picked up anything after you grabbed armor it would cancel it out. you could easily make the same thing with a weapon sound

and here you are freaking out about a twinkly fucking megahealth sound. get the fuck over it you stereotypical ethnic ghetto-style individual

far as MH sound I just use the quakeworld one because i dislike the quake3/quake2 mh sound... no advantage just different and the sound mentioned where it echos is the same one just played 3 times tapering off

same shit with armors, I just use the quake3 armor sound because I like it more than the quake2 one

I also pulled the rocket and grenade sounds from qw because that shit is classic

and I think I pulled item pickup sounds from quake4, but I honestly can't recall since it has been years since I built my pak


2d, just go download random paks from the tastyspleen files section, and use pakscape or something to build a custom one that fits what you want... it won't make you play any better, but maybe we won't have to see you complain about it afterwards
