What's hilarious is that half the time anticheat just plain doesn't work for people with modern Q2 clients, and even when it does, it means (mostly) NOTHING - it has not been supported and updated in YEARS (sadly). How many exploits do you think are out there now that can get past it? Just because a player doesn't use anticheat and got some decent flick rails, means squat. There's nothing wrong with being vigilant, but what's happening here is making me laugh.

What's really hilarious, is that this time the person being accused and shit on, is actually a highly regarded and respected LMCTF player. Jehar and RottenRose have met him at QuakeCon this past summer and I'm certain could vouch for him...but would the tastytrolls care even then? #MEGALEL #YOLO

Since I'm apparently the voice of reason, I'll say that while I don't think he's cheating in those 2 demos, saying that anticheat "means mostly NOTHING" is entirely inaccurate. It already has plenty of known hacks in it's definition database. And while newer shit might be able to slip past it, it still keeps a record of it. Unless I'm mistaken, all it takes is one set of human eyes to spot it in use, and that record can be used to define it and ban it from further use.

Anyone who puts hashtags and says YOLO in this forum obviously has the mind of a 12 year old and no amount of trying to explain things to them (like how evidence works) is going to be worth your effort.

He doesn't even seem to understand that nobody other than alpha called these demos a bot in this thread, and he's happily ignoring the fact that the supposed issue is now a non-issue because whatever.com over there is now using anticheat and still playing the same way and there are apparently no hard feelings beyond some snarky responses on a forum.

It's over and done with and you have these 2 randoms in here trying to wear big boy pants by calling other people uninformed and/or trolls.

Yeah, I started to specifically mention that case, too. I'm not 100% sure on how anticheat keeps records of presently unknown things loaded, but I was under the impression that it went down something like this:
Hal/Zek was using a bot that anticheat didn't automatically detect as a proxy. People became suspicious of his aiming ability due to a higher than average chaingun accuracy stat. People spec'd and demoed him long enough to finally gain visual evidence of him using a bot. Then... and this is the part I'm not 100% on... quadz used the anticheat records to define whatever he had loaded as a new known hack so that it could catch it in the future.

Anyway, in my opinion, having anticheat in use (even if it isn't currently being supported and updated) is more effective than 5 or 10 random players serving as plain-clothes admins who might not care to spend every single second they're connected to a server watching everyone play in order to police the joint (because admins are here to PLAY too). When used IN ADDITION TO those 5 or 10 random players serving as admins, as well as the watchful eyes of other players who aren't admins, it's proven to have a high rate of success at catching hackers. Cheaters may pop up around here occasionally, but they don't enjoy a long career of it. If they make it longer than a few days, they're pretty lucky.

I found it hilarious that how this whole thing was blown out of proportion and you specifically went on the whole "evidence/words are wind" tirade (and you still keep referring to it) - meanwhile Alpha's original post/demo were EVIDENCE (ooooh!) enough this whole time to (eye-rollingly I might add) dismiss this whole ridiculous debacle. You may not have called LMCTF a bot outright, but your approach to the whole situation just made me...#SMH (I'M USING #SMH IRONICALLY, OK???).

In response to the new accounts/players posting here, including the one being accused...unless one of the admins declares your play suspicious and forces anticheat on you...there's no reason to get crazy with people questioning your play. Especially if you start playing on mod's or servers you're not necessarily known on. Unknown players here with quirky play are going to get scrutinized a bit.

Rest assured, admins get around to checking most reputably posted demos with accusations like this and will make a determination on your case. You will find out one way or another, usually with at least anticheat forced if the suspicion is strong.

You will know when this happens, so if you're satisfied that you're not cheating and feel no need to provide any evidence to the contrary, then just state your case and be done with it until you hear otherwise. Don't get indignant when players with experience on a particular server or mod thinks your play and/or demo's look funny.

This is exactly how I feel. I find it hilarious how many cheating bums were raging over the years they were getting owned by legitimate players. Idiots like "tragik"...and "gayzer" come to mind...

Just as you claim Dervish's earlier posts were insinuating that LMCTF was definitely cheating, the above statement insinuates you are of the opinion that any and all usage of anticheat is a complete waste of effort. How did Vandal get past it? He wasn't using it at the time. The minute he's forced to do so, he gets popped red-handed with an unknown tsearch wallhack. Seems to me that there's a lot more ways that it works than there are ways that it doesn't.
