Yeah, as long as I got power, I'm good. Actually got some SNOW today. Yesterday all day it was pretty warm, probably in the 60's. About 1 or 2pm today, I went out on the front porch for a smoke and it felt to be about 45. Then when the snow started coming down at about 2:30 or 3pm, it instantly dropped to 32. Right now, my weather widget says its 30 degrees, but it's probably actually about 22 from what the news is saying.

Like Adren's saying, all the schools and non-retail businesses are closing up tighter than a dicks hatband. Traffics a clusterfucked gridlocked disaster all over the Atlanta area, especially up the GA 400 expressway which runs from the north side of the Atlanta perimeter up towards Dahlonega and Cleveland GA, and it's virtually a parking lot at the moment. Last count was about 130 accidents attributed to the weather so far, and I heard that at about 4:30 or 5, so it's gotta be reaching or beyond 200 by now.

If anything bad's gonna happen, it's gonna be sometime tomorrow morning. I don't really expect it though. It appears like I didn't get quite as much snow as other parts closer to Atlanta did. Probably an inch of snow on the ground outside right now at the most. It's doable. Roads are wet but not really frozen sheets of ice. I could get out driving on it right now if I wanted to. Thing is... knowing how fucking retarded everyone else in this state is when they get behind the wheel of a gasoline powered deathdealing machine, I really have NO desire at all to get out and try my luck with these other dumbass peanut heads on the roads.

That's one thing that's a little odd about me. I can tend to be a bit of a psycho when shit goes wrong and doesn't work right. But I'm always cool as a cucumber in traffic. I have no problem getting behind someone going a little slower than 10-15 miles over the posted limit (which is typically what people drive around here ) I don't switch lanes on the expressway trying to get two cars ahead because I know I'll get where I'm going eventually. I just don't stress it about traffic. And when it's raining and snowing and shit like that, I slow down and use my fucking head like a sane thinking person should. Unfortunately, everyone else in this state seems to be the exact opposite. And that's why insurance companies are gonna be really fucking busy tomorrow.

Hey Happy Friar, we don't know REAL cold down south, especially snow and ice on top of it. Heck, folks don't know how to drive in bright clear sunshine. I got about 2.5 inches of snow and ice this morning through early afternoon, stayed at home and worked because I had brought everything necessary the evening before. My wife runs a branch bank and she's going in no matter what so I put her in my old Silverado this morning. Glad I did. I'm listening to the local scanner now and folks are off the road, turned sideways in the middle, or generally slip sliding away.

If you could spend a few weeks down here in hot, humid weather or episodes of tornadoes or hurricanes you would see we all have something to deal with. I love the beauty and novelty of snow/ice, but I wouldn't like it all winter.

You keep the tornadoes & hurricanes, I'll keep my 0f & ~6 feet of snow a winter, thank you very much.    My wife's got family near Gainesville  (that means technically so do I :p ) so we keep an eye on the weather in that area.  They're from up here so they don't mind it as much.

Maaaaaaaaaaaan. Here I was thinking shit wasn't all that bad. Apparently I wasn't watching the news close enough. There were tons of people stuck on the interstates all over Atlanta and figured they'd all get where they were going by late last night. Not even close! Tractor trailers jackknifed all over the place, tractor trailers flipped on their sides and roofs, cars overturned, cars abandoned. Some people sat there trying to wait it out and had their cars running to keep the heaters going so they wouldn't freeze to death and many have run slap out of gas and had to abandon their cars to find somewhere else to go. People sleeping all over the place in retail stores, kids stuck at schools all night long. WHAT A FUCKING MESS! And shit ain't supposed to start warming up and melting for another day or two. And then once that happens, god only knows how long it'll take to get all these wrecked and abandoned and out of gas vehicles cleared so traffic can resume. Pure fucking insanity.

I am moving in with my girlfriend and the movers I hired were due Thursday morning to move my girlfriend's stuff to the new place. Howver ,when I tried to confirm this yesterday I couldn't reach them,and they told me that they were unlucky enough to be doing a long haul move to Georgia and were delayed by snow. But they hope to be up by me Saturday.

I am understanding...I hope my girlfriend's landlord is as well .

Watching the news coverage of the press conference with the governor of the State of Georgia. Kinda pisses me off. They're blasting the shit out of him blaming him for all the problems saying that he should've been god damn psychic and seen all this shit coming and thus shut down everything ahead of time. And like I said earlier, we only got about 2 inches of snow at the most. Problem is, NOBODY really saw this coming, even the local weather forecasters. We had a front of warmer above freezing temps followed by a kinda narrow strip of snow, and right behind it was a front of blistering cold that froze everything solid once it was on the ground. Everybody foresaw the small layer of snow we were gonna get, and that in and of itself shouldn't have amounted to anything. We've gotten snow before. 1-2 inches ain't jack shit to worry about... UNLESS... it freezes solid as soon as it accumulates... and nobody predicted that, they just thought it was a slight "possibility". And the government can't just decide to shut everything down ahead of time operating on mere maybe's. Shit costs too much to operate that way anymore. Schools gotta pay to operate during snow makeup days, other government offices lose money and time getting off schedule with things. And with a lot of cities around Georgia having to severely cut back their government workforces... like how many cities have severely reduced their number of active police officers and sometimes just had to close city police departments ALTOGETHER... things are tighter than ever since the 08 recession.

This conference has already been going for probably 30-45 mins. I'm just waiting for him to finally get fed up with their bullshit and just tell them to kiss his fucking ass or that if they think they could do a better job, they should shut the fuck up and run for governor themselves.

I was in the kitchen a few minutes ago making some sandwiches for lunch when I looked out the back window and saw 2 kids out tiptoeing around by the pond acting like they were getting ready to go walking out onto the ice. Ran them off.

Last thing I wanna do is go getting hypothermia on some dumb kids account when I gotta jump into a frozen lake to save their poorly parented ass.

There was that whole thing about how they didn't approve of same-sex marriage... or something like that. Why a god damn fast food restaurant would be offering up political and religious views is beyond me. They sell chicken, not bibles or campaign buttons. But whatever. And apparently they tend to be a pretty Christian oriented workforce. I know that when my mom used to force me to go to church in my teen years, several of the other teens from my church worked at Chik-Fil-A's and were bible-thumping numbskulls.

I had a buddy that ended up moving out to Hollywood CA or somewhere thereabouts. Back when that shit was going down, he thought it would be a funny idea to dress up like the biggest most flamingest queer you've ever seen, adopt a heavy heavy gay lisp, and go roaming around outside a Chik-fil-a in CA shirtless, wearing some kinda cape, wearing roller skates, and carrying a picket sign while screaming at people. And he's not even really gay. Not even a little. Just fucking crazy.

Yeah I remember that, but ain't those gay's preaching tolerances of others views?  So support their views, right,  but not others?  But on the other side, the US Govt supports gay right and they're not out there handing out free food this fast, are they?  Homedepot supports gay right, they're not out there offering up free building materials to fix stuff.  GLADD ain't out there helping people out.

Chik-Fill-A's putting their $$ where their mouth is.  Not many do that anymore.

got about a little over a half an inch of ice... crazy shit. our powers been out for about 16 hours, longest in decades. every tree was covered in ice too, it looked beautiful. will prob post pics soon.......

Here comes round 2 supposedly. Apparently the governor took so much shit a couple weeks ago over the mis-preparedness issues that they went ahead and got started early by mobilizing salt and sand trucks as early as LAST NIGHT to go ahead and start putting stuff down. It wasn't even "cold" last night either, maybe the mid 40's. But according to the news, we're supposed to get a sleety-slushy mix starting at some point tonight and continuing all day tomorrow, then tomorrow night it might start actually snowing flakes, and then by Wednesday morning everything accumulated on the ground could possibly all freeze solid as a rock. They're projecting as much as 7-8 inches this time. So either they'll be way off and we won't get jack shit, or we'll get closer to 2 feet and the whole state will be frozen in place again.

So far so good. It was snowing pretty good by the time I got up a little after 10am. Big puffy flakes, not the smaller more compacted ones like the other week, so I kinda knew it wouldn't be anything as bad as before. It's 3pm now and it's stopped snowing in the past hour or so. At noon, my roof and yard was mostly white with about a 2 or 3 inch layer of fluffy snow, and at the present, the roof is mostly bare and there's now a lot of grass popping up through the snow all over the place, so a lot of it has already melted away. My weather widget says it's 36 degrees right now, but it feels more like about 40 to 42. They're telling people to stay the hell off the roads tomorrow, so I guess if anythings gonna freeze hard, it's gonna do it overnight. I kinda suspect it won't though.
