Yeah, come the AM, we're probably gonna be mega-screwed. It's been in the low 40's to high 30's at my house today and raining off and on. Supposed to be a low of 9 or 10 by the time the sun starts coming up, which always the coldest part of the day, and all this rain is still gonna be wet on the ground and freeze solid. Monday morning rush hour oughta be pretty interesting for the poor schmucks that have to get out and drive in it.

Speaking of those "southern snow plows", I know Hall County/Gainesville GA has a few actual rock salt trucks with shovels on the front, but a lot of other places use road paving equipment to clear snow and ice from roads, which always ends up tearing the shit outta the roads and making any forming pot holes 100 times worse. I fucking HATE it when they spread that rock salt shit on the roads out here. There's not a whole ton of traffic on the roads around my house, so it stays there for a week or two after they put it down. I'll get out on my bike and the front wheel shotgun pellets my ass head to toe with that shit.

Mercury at my house is reading 8 degrees at the moment. 

Think I'm gonna go hit up the ground blind and see if any deer come shivering by when the sun comes up. Deer season is "technically" over. But I only plugged one doe this year, still got 10 or more tags I could've filled but didn't. It's on my own property, so I'll just say the deer was trespassing.

Very disappointing to me.  Sure, it got cold (I've been told between -10 to -16 here) & windy, but yesterday morning the rain took away all the snow, it got cold so slowwwww that there's almost no ice & the wind blew everything white and loose away.

I dunno what would be worse, working literally OUTSIDE in this kind of weather where all the wind hits you, or working inside a half finished multistory poured concrete floor building. Now you might think that being inside a building with a roof over your head and some outer walls might be good to keep the cold out, but lemme tell ya, that AIN'T the case. When I was a pipefitter, it was actually colder INSIDE the building than it was outside no matter what the wind was doing. They don't install windows until last so they won't get broken, so the wind still has a chance to whip through on you. And those thick concrete floors contain so much of the cold that the soles of your boots soak it up like water into a napkin. And it doesn't matter if you wear 3 or 4 pairs of socks, unless they're battery powered heated socks, they're more or less gonna soak up the cold from the floor and keep your feet half-frozen all day long.

Working in near freezing and below temps in wintertime was what I hated the most about being a pipefitter. I could handle the heat in the summertime. Sweating ain't a problem for me at all. But when you work with your hands and you're on your feet all day long, cold fucking HURTS. It makes your feet freeze and hurt every step you take, and touching cold copper and steel pipe freezes your hands through your gloves and makes your skin blister and crack, and your finger joints ache every time you do anything. It's just fucking miserable. I don't envy anyone that has to earn a living that way. Union wages tend to be better than non-Union wages, but it still ain't enough to compensate these guys for the physical torture they endure in this kind of weather 5 or 6 months out of the year. People who submit themselves to that kind of prolonged exposure to extreme temps in a working environment don't enjoy a long career of being completely healthy. They tend to die earlier in life than people who sit behind a desk all day in a cozy office. With few exceptions, all of the guys I worked with who were in their 40's and beyond all had back problems from all the heavy lifting. Shit like slipped or bulging disks, or even arthritis. I'm only in my 30's and I've already started to develop a little bit of arthritis in the joints of my index and ring finger on my right hand.

Iuoe.org, I'm with them foc. I have a survival suit plus layers, an expensive ski mask type thing, 3 pairs of socks with one wool, etc. Type crab beach nourishment in google and you'll see what I operate.
