well the xbox has that used games re-selling policy that hurts it. the ps4 may get the same thing. we have to wait and see. ps4 will also have a fee like xbox. so neither one will be as lucrative as before.
-Enforced online check-in every 24 hours to verify console/software authenticity. -Disc-based games are only for installing games. -Developers decide whether their games can be traded in the second-hand game market. If they can be traded, they can only be done so at selected retail stores (e.g. Gamestop). -Games can be traded with friends but only if they have been on your friend's list for 30 days minimum. Once you trade a game, it can't be traded again and you lose that game forever.
Nah, we know most of the details on the DRM and used games policies for both consoles. It is possible that both companies could change their policies, but it seems unlikely especially since we are not too far away from a release for either console.
The PS4 fee you are thinking about is the PS+ fee. Basically, you'll have to pay a small fee (five bucks or something) to play multiplayer games online. That is a turn off to some folks but apparently PS+ is decent as you gain access to some games for free (even AAA titles) and other content on there.
Yes, I find it ironic that many game developers switched to make games for consoles in order to be free from piracy, aside from attracting a more larger consumer base. Now console gaming has piracy and DRM as bad as what you see on the PC, however the Xbox One might implement the worst DRM ever seen thus far!
The release Date is Dec 31st for the PS4. still a long ways off. Even though i didn't look for the Xbox release date, i can't imagine Xbox one is that far behind. companies have been doing simultaneous competitive releases for a very long time. even way back when with older companies and platforms. So to say Ps4 most likely won't change it's policy, pre-ordering is taking a gamble, even for the frugal gamer. These companies have a history of pushing back release dates and such.
The PS4 already has more pre-orders sold than the Xbox One, not that that carries much meaning.
