Yeah, if it's plain yogurt it's actually a quite healthy way to get the good bacteria in your gut. I believe it's called Lactobacillus Bulgaricus. Also, Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Bifidus are supposed to be in it, really good stuff. Plain non-flavored whole-milk yogurt is usually highest in the good bacteria that allows the flora to flourish in your GI tract. Actually, from what I've heard, ALL dairy-based products have at least a little bit of this good bacteria in them, but yogurt is maxed out in this capacity for some reason. I guess it's the conversions of the bacteria as it grows when they make yogurt that causes such a high level. As a related side-note, I know whenever I get a bad stomach illness (rarely) and I'm spraying "rice water" practically, I eat yogurt for a week and it really makes a huge impact. Well, that and antibiotics. No sense in staying sick longer than you have to nowadays...I don't get people who don't go to the doctor and stay sick for a month or more when it could've just been a few days. But I digress...Yogurt is just good for you in general. However, if you're already healthy, it doesn't really do anything for you other than keeping your flora maxed out at best.
