For the record, the general idea is one shouldn't use a name that looks enough like another player's name that observers might be confused about who is who.

The way I've explained it in the past is, don't use "quadz", "qUadz", "qu4dz", etc. But if you want to use "quadz sucks" or whatever, that's alright as there's no confusion over spoofing.

I'll admit I get irritated when players engage in rapid-fire chat spam, and the half-mute was developed as a tool to address those sorts of problems.

But based on the timestamps above, "D" is chatting between 2 to 4 times per minute.

It's not particularly spammy. It's also not particularly vile, beyond the commonplace juvenile gamer rape metaphors. Specifically, the language used seems less offensive than that routinely employed by those now objecting to D's behavior.

So if it's not the spam, and it's not the language, what is it? Mainly that he's carrying on from spectator instead of playing? (i.e. Ashtar syndrome?)

I actually mentioned this repeated behavioral pattern of D's a good 3 years ago when it became apparent that he would not desist in doing this for his own entertainment.

Not only is he annoying, intentionally abrasive, and abusing the servers to subject others to this behavior, but he regularly acts as though he's better at the actual playing of Q2 than other people, only to either a: not play them again ever, or b: hide behind someone else's skirts like a child making faces at their rival.

In the example above he gives average player "zilla" a bunch of shit for no apparent reason, then cops out of a 1v1 with him after being handled for a few minutes and continues his incessant shit talk as if he was not just beaten handily. (certain parallels can be drawn with the situation of the other day except this time he wouldn't even duel the guy for half a map)

He will sit in spec and talk incessantly about how someone else entirely (his buddy Ty is regularly mommy in this scenario) is beating his abuse target du jour at FFA, while he himself is always too cowardly to play them a whole round and let the frags speak for themselves. He then engages in dumb slander to take the place of the frags he couldn't get.

He's done this to me within the last year when I showed up on DM in the evening for one of the few times that I've had the urge to play from home. Same MO as usual: he talks a bunch of shit upon seeing me join the server, then has his little cadre of douchey buddies either play teams in ffa to "beat" me or he brags about every frag made against me by his only buddy who is halfway decent at q2 (ty) all the while avoiding actually playing me.

He's literally taking up a spot on the server, to not play and if there is a full DM server he's probably preventing someone else who would play from being able to join just to sit around abusing others until they are forced to alias to avoid him or put him on ignore and hope everyone else isn't taking his slanderous crap seriously.

In other words he's got early alzheimers? Poor guy. Must be hard going through life not being able to remember shit. Like remember the time that you had to set shit up to kick me if I changed my name to D, and to kick him if he changed his name to Focalor or whatever? I guess he doesn't remember that though. I find the specific language to be quite telling.

In this example of rectal smoke blowing, he doesn't even admit to what is readily discernable and instead uses "Might have" as a convenient out for when someone says "hey you admitted that you acted like a dick for no reason" in case something comes of it.

He "didn't mean to", and he "might have" within 2 sentences and then a followup "honestly" for good measure, all to get you to believe the straight line of bullshit he's spitting.

He might as well tell you that you want fries with that.
