Every post i make is down rated by rk / animosity... just flip through my rates, it doesn't matter what i say, he will rate it as racist ignoramus or flamebait

When the latest ratings experiment went online, I'd attempted to monitor this sort of thing, and would suspend someone's ability to impart negative and/or positive ratings, if a pattern emerged where their ratings clearly didn't match the content of the posts.

However, that level of vigilance faded pretty fast. I still tend to read the forms via: http://forum.tastyspleen.net/quake/index.php?action=recent

And ratings don't show at all in that mode. Thus I often miss seeing how they're being used from day to day.

Based on the recent activity in this thread, if I kept to the original policy, half a dozen folks would presumably lose their negative-rate capability for awhile.

Which leads us to:

i didn't complain to anyone and never to Ely because i really don't care. Its all fun / war games.

From the outset, my assumption has been that if the rating system didn't ultimately turn out to be particularly useful, the next best result would be if it were to somehow end up being slightly fun.

I don't know how long the experiment will last, but if we're heading into the stage where it's predominantly just goofiness, then I guess so be it. I don't see having the time to keep close tabs on it.

2dum has been trolling hard for a year and a half so yes I do poke fun at him, but if he can behave perfectly for the next year and half then maybe I'll stop making him my bitch. He's the only person I pick on and clearly he brings it on himself. But I'm guessing everybody already knew that.

Go on slandering animosity constantly, telling everyone how great you are and claiming to be some q2 god, all the while on a q2 forum full of players that shit on you, and see if you can't earn some more "flamebait" or "factually challenged" ratings.

How does the rates system work these days?

Who can give rates and when and why?

What is the current criteria for being able to give rates?


* For some reason XANA 'Appears Not to Comprehend Game Fundamentals' and this has resulted in him deciding to give this post a negative rate, XANA doesn't seem to understand that some people can't give rates and that they don't know when they will be able to do so or even why they can't do so.

Xana, stop making a fool of yourself and remove the negative rate that you placed on this post.

My questions still stand, if anyone would like to answer this post properly then that would be very welcome.

Does anyone on this forum even know the answers to my questions? i do presume that the new admin is still figuring things out but i'm sure the answers are probably close at hand.

I guess we'll find out at some point, the rate system will probably get indirectly reviewed by the new admin anyway.

The rating system works by selecting emojis at the bottom of an individual's post which correspond to a phrase and a point value from -2 to +2.

All accounts can use the rating system. There's some features that aren't available to brand new accounts though. I don't remember if rating posts is one of these features or not.

That's a real bad take you've got there captain obvious, it'd be a shame if someone were to point out the large flamewar about people maliciously giving each other negative rates for their own sick fucking pleasure that this thread is mostly composed of and the fact that YOU are a part of it.

I'll have an issue with whomever i please and i don't give a toss about negatives rates because, if i remember correctly, negative rates disappear if you delete the posts they're on and if a post gets so negatively rated that it gets censored then you can just repost all/part of the contents of a censored post elsewhere, negative rates mean nothing.

Did you NOT notice the * updates on my post clearly focusing on the humour/fun involved in this?
