Could someone please add those to the rotation? Before you tell me to go to mutant - trust me - I do as often as I can see players there but sadly nobody goes there anymore. I miss the old days.

Those maps are all good and vanilla appropriate.

Could you add some more from that list plz? If you want I can give you a short list of the shittiest maps (imo) to take off the vanilla rotation as well.

Years ago back when I was in [EoM] and we were having FFA get-togethers every Friday night, I went through every last map and made up a maplist of about 30 or 40 of the very best maps available (maps that were very well designed, good and balanced item/weapon placements, good texture usage and overall looks). If an admin could cut and paste the maplist off the EoM server, that would be a good and easy starting point for picking out some new stuff to use. (Pretty sure I still have ref mode and rcon passwords bound to keys in my config, but I don't think I still have the ftp password anywhere) I think when I made the maplist, I added all 8 of the plain old stock DM maps and scattered them throughout the normal rotation just because people dropping by for the "EoM Fun Frag Friday" thing still wanted to play those too. I think I also stuck in a couple of maps that only placements for railguns and armor shards with no health (basically modified instagib gameplay), so without the "railz" maps and DM maps, it would be a shorter list. All the other maps were mostly Mutant server custom maps and perhaps a tiny handful of single player maps, I can't remember.

If that's not doable, then my recommendation would be any maps made by Jdolan or Panjoo, and there's several of the Marics maps that are pretty good.

Note that historically maps on vanilla have been required to use predominantly stock textures. So that would rule out maps like 'jackboot' in the list above, for example.

Q2DM1_noob (The Edge - Noob On U) was a map override Razor did for us back before he went full retard. Probably his one and only legitimate and useful contribution to the Q2 community. It's just The Edge with nothing but BFG's and cells for all the weapons and ammo. Was kinda fun when it was just 3 or 4 people. With 8 to 12 people like Vanilla sometimes has, I dunno how fun people would find it to be. Might be something fun to include out of the rotation but mymap-able just as a goof.

I think qmass2dm3 and qmass2dm4 were maps Jdolan did. I seem to remember all his map files started with "qmass", and there were other qmass maps I would've liked to have included on that maplist. I think at the time, all I saw was about 4 or 5 total qmass2dm maps. If there's any other maps Jdolan did for Q2, people should take a look at them.

Not everyone who's ever made maps for Q2 has used good map design. A good map should have several routes to travel with a few multilevel intersection points that allow for more than 2 route options when escaping or pursuing a fight. That's one of the flaws of a few of the single player maps, they are already mostly designed to be one linear path from an entrance to an exit point which is why someone cut holes in a few of the walls to add circular flow to key areas and multiple routes to key weapons. Those "after market" cut-throughs alleviate the most major problems with congestion and rampant douchery camping/ambushing, but not completely, especially at the extreme ends of such linear designed maps. On the other hand, it's not necessarily a game breaker, because sometimes it's nice to be able to trap an opponent in one area giving them only one route option for escape. If it weren't for the shortcuts someone cut into a few of the vanilla maps, it would become too prevalent and annoy the shit out of players.

Just a small thing about map designs, ei, SP maps, and some custom maps I have seen over the years. I feel that the weapon placement can really be a hinder to some player, I have heard some complaints, (not here, but on other sites at the time) of putting the railgun in an open area for anyone to grab fairly easy, and put the BFG away in a room, or at the end of a hall/ room, 1 way in and out, so either people can camp it, or in some cases trap a player low on health so your basically getting free frags in a dead end room, lol

I guess any maps can have pros/cons to it, and I know eveyone's a differant style of play, but I guess for some it becomes a lopsided game, when some people just dash for that BFG in the end hallway, lol

Another thing too, is the maps on here, and other custom maps like the ZTN ones really change when you add the WoD mod or the LoX mod with all the different types of guns you can get.  ;)
