Anybody else effected by this hurricane? Don't think I've ever been in the way of 75 mph winds..

Holy shit, it's right over where I live. I checked it last night and it was a little to the left. MD might see the eye!

It had minimal effect on me (FL east coast). 

They have been wrong a lot with this storm, hopefully it don't gain anymore strength before it heads your way.

The press is predicting major damage when this storm and a cold front come together, lets hope their wrong with that also.

It's going to be a tropical storm by the time it goes over you fader, you'll see 40-45 mph winds tops. The eye will be poorly defined by then as well ;>

I'm just going by what I've heard/seen. Even if it does weaken into a tropical storm, we could still get winds up to 63 mph. I remember we got 40-50 mph winds for Irene, but we were never in the middle of it.

We're also supposed to get 5-8 inches of rain as well. The most we've ever had over here was only 3-4! :< Also our powers supposed to be out for maybe a few days, so it's very, very possible I might not be going to school on Monday or Tuesday.

Very. Only storms I can think of are Isabel and Irene, and neither of them directly hit where I am.

i know they are saying/telling/hyping otherwise fader.... that is constant with any storm no matter the landfall point. Far from the truth though.

the average of the models still have this going east of what they(the national hurricane center) think also. I stick what I already said about it's strength, and I bet it will make landfall north of cape may, NJ to mid NJ. (and not over DE through MD like the original track).

I'd say it's not the size that's rare (in '06 or '07 we got part of a hurricane in the Buffalo, NY area), it's that it's combining the storm from the south with a front from the Canadian/Central US that's theorized to cause the problem.  Now normally the storm from the west/north would cause snow, the lake's still warm (which increases moisture in the air), that would cause more snow, but the tropical storm isn't cold so that won't create snow, it will create rain instead.  4-8 inches of rain in a day is a LOT for most of that area.   Heck, 4-5 feet of snow for us for a day isn't hard to take care of, but that much rain you can't shovel and/or put in the lawn.

on the plus side, I don't have to worry about my cistern running out of water next week.
