People voted for it because it was in the list where they had to vote for 3 maps (the very first one listed), whereas there were much better duel maps in the short list where you only got to vote for 2.

Why were there 2 seperate votes for 1 pool of maps? I'll tell you:

If you'd had to chose 5 maps from a single list of all of those maps in both lists, dm2 would not be in the tournament and welkin wanted it there.

PS:

It wasnt up to welkin that his favorite map (that barely anyone who played in the league or who plays q2 to this day even considers a duel map) got put in the map list for the tourney he ran and played in.

Yeah, it was the first thing I tried out. Also I checked the message board and there's no account on there with my username.

I can't explain why that would be. I asked wision about it, and he changed some sort of setting for the forum. I then tested it myself by registering a new account and then logging in on the forum. It all worked perfectly for me. Please, try again, perhaps it's solved now. If not, register a new account and use this just for the forum. If that doesn't work, let me know.

wanted to change my screen name on q2scene.net but it still shows as my old old name i used when i first started. i go by Golgo13 now.  I didn't know which one to put since it has to be a recognizable name for the rules. is there a way to delete it and and start another profile or edit and modify the existing one?

Yea, you can't change the nickname you've registered. I'd recommend you to register a new account as Golgo13, as it is(?) the nick you're known under, and that's what we wish to register in the league.

I actually don't see why people have such strong feelings toward q2dm2. Yeah you could say it's not really a duel map, but who cares? I picked it for a bunch of matches last year, along with other lesser known maps like q2rdm5 simply because I knew my opponents hadn't played it 5 bazillion times and knew every sound by heart.  Once it was voted into the pool by the league players, people should have started playing it to learn it. Personally I had never played koldduel1 before edl10 but I started learning it because I knew people would pick it for our matches.

yeah claire, it would have been a good point if people actually didn't want to play dm2 because it's "new", which even though we've never dueled on dm2 in usa, I still don't feel it's "new" to me... just pointing that out.

bfg and the probability of rg v. bfg spawning aside, the map is a playable duel map. But even so there's several more applicable choices. I used purri v. isbjorn as an example because I thought it was a good one. I mean... bjorn practically outplayed purri on ptrip for all purposes... purri just landed more crucial rails than I had ever seen in my life on that map(was a very gg)... then bjorn beat purri really decisively on both dm1 and rdm2.

then....watching them play dm2 as the decider after being 2-2 was a major let down... out of the 50some spectators it seemed like everyone was in agreement. I just hope this shows in the polls :>

most people dont care if a map has been played a million times...

but, everyone does know q2dm2, it is not like its some new map that no one has seen and so they dont like it... its a map people konw, and feel plays like shit in 1v1

comparing it to koldduel1 is a terrible example.... koldduel1 is built for 1v1 and is a very well laid out map with the idea of 2 players going head to head, where q2dm2 is a map built for the really old school days of q2 mainly for free for all with quite a few players

not knowing koldduel1 vs knowing dm2, id still pick koldduel1 any day

What do you mean "status"? The league is still going on, and a lot of people are playing their matches. You, on the other hand, went on your post-deleting rage and pretty much got Welkin to forget about you when you asked him to delete you from the signups list. Now it's too late for you to be included.

Actually, Welkin deleted you from the signups and expected you to sign up with your real name right after, but you went inactive and just got forgotten about. Good thing, too. If you would have went inactive during EDL, it would have really inconvenienced the admins. By the way, deleting your posts doesn't delete the content of people who quoted you.
