Quake 2 on a Netbook?

yup, though you might wanna stick to software mode unless you got a graphics chipset in the netbook, they arent exactly known for their graphical capabilities

not off hand, but i know nvidia has a chipset built for those small intel atom processors, thats a start

actually not sure of how good it would run, but those intel atoms should be powerful enough to make the game play comfy in software mode, if ya did manage to get one with a graphics chip in it, that would take stress off the processor and make it play quite well... though idk why youd wanna play on a screen that small x.x

actually, im using one since I abandoned using my desktop years ago. no probs.. runs on opengl.

Quake 2 was made to run on basically the first graphics card, but it runs well on any video card. Any machine today that doesn't handle opengl/dx10+ was probably bought out by OLPC and shipped over to Africa. 

My only concern would be the OS. The chrome book may or may not run it. Anything running windows or a linux varient should be fine.

well those intel graphics chipsets can suck pretty bad... the low end stuff they put in netbooks some times just to save power would surprise ya... they really are geared towards browsing and thats bout it

Anyway, I just remembered that I had a netbook that I installed q2 on. Stupid thing got corrupted somehow and the whole not having a cd drive is frustrating.

Easy! Because I play on a small screen that is the size of a netbook anyway! I'm actually a good railer. I've had to learn how play like this ever since my Laptop crash back in 2009.
So I figured hey 'why not keep it in the family?' :dirty_man:  

Now that I'm on the subject... What is the best monitor size for Quake 2? I've been wondering. It's definietly not widescreen like my monitor. So what's the best screen size??? 13 inch? 10?

q2 works in wide screen, r1gl can force any resolution ya want... some old schoolers will always say ridiculously low resolutions, but its always good to run at native res on lcd monitors
