Question about the use of async 0,
when players use cl_async 0 and 27 fps, they can jump slightly higher and easier than on async 1,

when i try this, i dont get the same height, it will jump as if im using like 5fps or something.. I get half height jumps..

On my old pc i could use it properly, now i cant.

Any fix for this? I asked N00k!e he had no idea how to fix this... >.<

i have another question related to async. :p

when i use cl_async 1 i cant do the jump to the rail ledge on dm6.
if i change to cl_async 0 i can do it easily.
i can jump the dm8 boxes with both cl_async 0 or 1.

set r_maxfps "360"
set cl_async "1"

Late note:  I just noticed this was in the jump section since we know astral can't jump disregard!

Most players shoot and move away better with cl_async "0". That was definitely the case for me when switching from 3.20 to R1Q2. "1" made the whole game slower for me, and it felt as if my shots and movement were lagging slightly. You should try playing with it set to "0" sometime. It might improve your gameplay.

i tried lots of times with async 1, and cant do it.
but if i turn it to "0" i can do it at the first try :p
dm8 boxes i can do with both 0 or 1 too..

I don't know too much about cl_async but I think when it's on it adjusts your frames by hardware and network settings automatically. You can make frames smooth without it on, but I believe that has something to do with adjusting your maxfps according to screen refresh rate. I'm sure someone else here can answer that question for you, but you can definitely make the game not lag on your monitor with cl_async off.

For myself, I play with cl_async off and with 120 fps. I use a LCD monitor which is 60hz, so regardless of whatever tweaking I do my game will lag. Playing with 60fps is smoother but I want more frames so I just play with 120 and got use to it. If I want less lag I have to either get a CRT again or buy a 120hz monitor. Neither scenario will happen anytime soon. :>

cl_async separates network packet rate from renderer framerate.

With cl_async "0", cl_maxfps determines both the renderer framerate and the client->server network packet rate.  (They are linked, synchronous.)

With cl_async "1", these two quantities are now asynchronous with respect to one another. So that cl_maxfps determines only the network packet rate, and r_maxfps is now used to limit the renderer fps.

On my current system, i usually use:

cl_async 0
cl_maxfps 125

However lately I've been trying out:

cl_async 1
cl_maxfps 125
r_maxfps 480

In general the game feels subtly 'snappier' to me with the latter settings, although one kind of jump in particular has seemingly become more difficult.  (box jump from backpack to yellow armor in q2dm1 seems less forgiving than before, for example.)

I have tried 125 fps 101 112 without async and it all lags to were the screen is noticeably jerky.  In a duel I find I am aiming here and then my opponent is over the all the sudden, gets frustrating so I set it back.
