That said, I still agree with Acer. Doesn't matter how old it is, 1 day since release or 1 decade since release, cheating against an unwitting opponent is still lame. If your goal is to have fun by pissing people off by cheating, then whatever. But I don't personally find any possible enjoyment in cheating in order to win at a video game. To me, the fun part is winning and knowing that YOU won all by yourself without needing help from some aiming program or anything else. Hell, to me it's more fun to lose without having to use cheats than to win with using cheats. Playing with cheats like aimbots takes the whole point of the game away, to aim and shoot at people. At that point, you might as well sit in spectator mode and watch someone else play and PRETEND it's you on the screen playing the game.

That's what I meant, yes.  But of course, cheating at any stage of the game is stupid, absolutely, but in the purest sense of just wanting to see what these cheats do and how to recognize them, it's better to do it when a game first comes out than in the later stages, because as you said Focalor, we're losing people right and left in this game.

I set some highscores with a bot like 10 years ago I think to piss off one guy in particular cuz he was killing the enter.net server with his bullshit (this guy named GotemSmokem, actually very similar in personality to Jaquio).  I realize now that was the wrong thing to do, but live and learn.

Anyway, eventually this game will be whittled down to a very few select players who will be very very good at this game.  That's why cheats, just like any other form of lameness, are crucial to keep away at this point.

Luckily, since we're at the 15 year point, and since there still are newbs that come to this game, we actually won't lose too many more people believe it or not.  It will eventually deflate to about I'm guessing 70% of what we have now, and hold at that point indefinitely.

Demo all you want, it won't show anything. To be honest, I dunno how you could even make the mistake that this guy might be cheating, he really isn't doing anything noteworthy. Firing the BFG at the machinegun area on Lost Hallways? Hell, everyone does that, even some of the lowest scoring vanilla players. Its one of the most high traffic areas of the map, always a good place to spam the idiot-gun as you approach, common knowledge. And since Quadz has already mentioned how he changes names more frequently than Kim Kardshian fucks the talent out of pro athletes, good luck finding him.

It was the firing-at-the-floor rocket-in-the-face shot on dm8 that was absurdly obvious.  Wallhacks make floors transparent and you can't always tell if you're totally past it or not, which is exactly what he did, along with several other things on dm8.  Walking on the catwalk, not running, hearing him jumping on other side of map, then mysteriously he runs directly to bfg area and spams rockets to kill me?  Maybe he was really lucky in a guess, or maybe there was something else helping him.

Unfortunately, I didn't demo that.  But that doesn't mean he wasn't using a wallhack.  Just sayin, I've fucked with wallhacks before, I know how a person is going to act when they use one.

Not really. Wallhacks that people are typically going be using are going to make any entities show through walls. Just players, dead bodies, ammo packs, weapons, spawn pads, teleporters, etc. For example, Skillz provided us with a wonderful demonstration of what a wallhack does...

There are wallhacks out there that do make some walls semi-transparent and also have another option to completely remove all map textures and show only the wireframe outlines of the map, but they make it a little too confusing to navigate maps and most people opt for the entities wallhack which does not make any walls or floors transparent. So I'm not saying that wallhacks which make floors and walls invisible do not exist, just that most people who are going to risk cheating aren't going to use those particular modes.
