Heh!  OK, turns out this is indeed someone I had met and played Q2 with during my 2007 QuakeCon trip.

Now that Furion isn't merely a random/unknown alias-changer, and considering the unsupported OS, I've removed the forced AC.

Also, note that Furion has posted his own in-eyes demos of games where the cheat accusations were occurring.  The q2dm6 demo in particular contains comments from ex and Alpha to the effect that they think they are seeing a wallhack.

I'm reminded of having posted the following about a year ago in the "we intentionally describe people incorrectly" thread:

One thing I've really come to appreciate is how carefully and judiciously that Alpha guy screens his hack accusations before posting them on the forums.  On the rare occasions when he does post, there's a high probability the accused player is really cheating.

Would anyone who isn't prone to making spurious hackusations care to review Furion's q2dm6 demo?

It's interesting that all the demos you posted were NOT the ones in question.  I only wish I had set my r1q2 to record everything fully (option now set for damn sure).

Anyway, in Alpha's demos, while still not 100% conclusive, does show you are either walling, or have strategy skills better than most tdm'ers.  TBH I still know for sure you were walling, but since there's no absolute proof in this scenario, you're off the hook...for now.

Let it be known however that I will eventually catch you in the act again, and when I do, it's bye-bye time for you.  Either that, or this has scared you into cleaning up your q2 dir, which is fine too.

There is no point in cheating in a 15 year old game.

Yeah, when alphas the one playing the cheats card, chances are very good that the person in question is 100% legit. Maybe he should actually take the time to watch a few confirmed wallhack demos to see what it looks like before opening his mouth about it like an expert.

I see no reason to force AC on this guy even based on mere suspicion, because there IS none.

Really? Well... Just to be clear, you're the one who added a few posts in this thread pinpointing the occasions during the demos when you think his use of a supposed wallhack is most evident.

It's like you're giddy with delight at the thoughts of having something you say or point out be the reason why someone might be banned from the servers. If you spent as much time trying BRING PEOPLE INTO THE GAME as you do trying to have people kicked out of it, this place would be a lot better off. In the past 4 or 5 years, I've seen how much attendance has really dropped off. If that trend continues, pretty soon there won't be anyone around to play against much less accuse them of cheating.

No I don't see any cheating in those demos, in fact he looked somewhat nervous and spammy with his rockets. But anyone with countless hours of experience on these DM maps is going to know where to expect a target and when to shoot. At least the smart ones do.
To newer players it will without a doubt look and feel suspicious sometimes, but both Ex and Alpha know better and should not accuse as fast as they do. The people who think they're far better than they really are usually can't understand that other players do better or play a little smarter. That's when they'll begin looking for something that isn't there.

I've heard many people say this before but it's just a strange argument. Would this mean that it's understandable if people cheat as long as they do it in a game that's only 2 years old? The point of cheating obviously is to compensate lack of skill and/or doing it just for kicks. The fact that Q2 has aged has zero to do with that.
