well i got it all working and to be honest i am dissapointed. i do like the celshading effect, but aprq2 quality is no where near as good as r1q2. here is a demo recording done in aprq2. as you can see the background of the map is very blured compared to my videos done in r1q2. idk why the reason for that

Looks like that "blur" you're talking about is probably related to the weird trailing effect you seem to have going on when using that cell shading. I'm not 100% sure that's what is going on, but when I had the video paused a few times, I could clearly see what looked like a several different outlines of the same player in motion being rendered, but perhaps thats a symptom of the uploaded video itself and not the game.

edit: I was reading through the readme for aprq2 v1.211 and saw this:
Quote
gl_motionblur         0 | 1      Enables motion blur effect if your hardware support it.

Maybe that's what's going on. Looks like there are bunch of effects you can turn on and off. Read under "GL MODE" settings. Looks like there's even a setting to define the width of the black outlines with celshading on.

tried that. default is 0 i tried 1 and it was like i had been smokin weed lol. but i was talking about the overall quality of the end video. the textures in the background and the video in general just looks blurredand real poor quality compared to the ones i record in r1q2

try adjusting the anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering to higher values.

not sure what the cvars for these are in apr tho

Could be something like that. I was thinking that aprq2 came with it's own video dll (something like apr_gl.dll maybe), but I don't see it in the zip file I downloaded. So maybe it's using r1gl for video, and if thats the case, I can't understand why you'd have a difference in texture quality like that.

But to clarify what those do:

Anti-aliasing takes the edges of lines and rather than coloring a definite pixel definition around an object, it blends the colors of neighboring pixels to make the lines look smoother. Maybe that sounds like gibberish, so here's a picture to demonstrate the concept I'm probably failing to explain worth a damn.

Now those pictures are magnified to see the pixels, but if they were shrunk back to normal size, you'd notice that the anti-aliased image looks like a smoother line and the aliased one would appear jagged and shitty like an old Atari or Nintendo game.

Anisotropic filtering makes angled textures appear more defined. It's a little harder to explain so here's another picture to demonstrate it.

If you notice the floor tiles from the middle part of the bridge up to the top of the image, they appear kinda blurred with anisotropic filtering off. With it turned up to 16x, the textures are pretty much completely defined just as any vertical surface would appear.

i tried it with the settings turned up and its still the same. blurred as hell in the background. i think aprq2 is just a poor quality client

might give quake2max a try see how it turns out. interesting thing to note with aprq2 there is no r1gl option in the video settings, it uses opengl
