aprq2 help

i wanted to give aprq2 another try and i am tearing whats left of my hair out. I want to try this gl_celshading i keep getting told about but it just makes everything get covered in black lines. also  my high res pak and rich's high res textures won't load with aprq2.   :frustration:

i have fixed the celshading issue. had to remove my r1q2 config and autoexec :/ but high res paks still don't work with aprq2

Try adding gl_replacepcx 1 to your config.

Quake2 textures aren't .pcx but .wal format. Only skins and HUD are .pcx.

   set gl_replacetga 1   ( Replaces all wal files with png, tga or jpg ones if found any. Sequence is png->tga->jpg->wal )

Hi-res texures work just fine with Aprq2 man. I'm guessing, since you like to change clients, paks and other shit on a regular basis;) that your baseq2 folder is a melange of paks and chances are that things are getting mixed up.

What's the format of those textures that you want to use anyway? The sequence with Aprq2 is png-> tga-> jpg-> wal.  So this could be happening: pak6 has png textures and pak9 has tga textures that you want to see. In this case you should disable pak6.

nah i only have my paks for r1q2 and have removed them before trying aprq2. so the only paks i am trying to use are r1chs high res pak and a high res pak for weapons ext

1: are all your paks stored only in quake2\baseq2?

2: did you add both gl_replacepcx 1 and gl_replacetga 1 to your new autoexec config, or did you put them in via console?

3: if you put them in console, try following up with a vid_restart

4: If all else fails, create a clean q2 install in a folder like c:\other\quake2 and try this all in there, one piece at a time.

i tried a clean install in a new folder and it still won't work. i will just probably give it up. I have seen clips on youtube were they have the celshading and high res wepons and textures but for some uknown reason it just isn't working. interesting to note i downloaded the q2kicker and it must come with high res textures, but it still won't load my high res weapons pak. the only other thing i could try is copy the pak0pak from my normal q2 to a new install and edit the models ect with my high res ones. after all i am only going to use it for youtube clips. wonder if it will work then

update i managed to get it to work by using the q2kicker and replacing items in the pak0.pak with my high res stuff. i do have a problem with getting the custom sounds for armor and mega to work but they are only minor issues. its actually not too bad looking with the right settings and the celshading

yeah tried that. lol it still uses stock sounds even though i deleted them out of the pak0pak and replaced them with the custom ones  :lolsign: :WTF:

You need to have the stock .wal's with the custom hi-res .tga's for AprQ2 to work with high resolution textures.
