I used WinMX for the longest time, but it's been shut down now unfortunately. Was just wondering what other programs are out there that are good for downloading MP3's, peer to peer style I guess, or any other suggestions. Searchable would be ideal, thanks =)

My friend downloaded LimeWire, that one good? or perhaps something else, thanks =)

I use direct connect. Best thing I know to download underground metal music. That might not be what you're looking for though.

Soulseek is good. eDonkey can be an option too as it seems to be more popular now.

Download LimeWire. It's great, best P2P program since Napster was in its prime, in my opinion. It comes with absolutely no spyware attached to it. Believe me, I check to see if spyware is installed after every update.

Never had a problem with LimeWire, highly recommend it to you.

I used to have limewire. I found that it was bloated and inefficient program that took forever to load, and didn't even have the best selection. Soulseek is far better if you're looking for music. It's a small efficient program that can run unobtrusively in the background, and it has no spyware, no ads, and isn't constantly bothering you to dl the "pro" version. It also has a better selection of rare music (I managed to get the album Cereal Killer by Green Jelly, which limewire didn't have).

If you're looking for something more advanced, shareza and eMule are both good options, but they can be a pain in the ass.

Limwire PRO (faster than limwire and with no ads)

Usually u have to pay but heres a hint: download limwire (which is free) and then type in it Limwire Pro and u can download PRR hahaha

I don't use any of these, but happend to be researching p2p technologies and read this regarding eDonkey:

"Latest versions (1.4.3+) of eDonkey all contain adware, which can not be opted out of, even with a "Pro" install."

most of the p2p all have adware/spyware

limeware etc etc. even the ones you pay for just shove it down to you

i spend quite a bit of time removing spyware/adware for my co-workers at work.
and clear it off and remove the programs but since they are junkies they reinstall it back on. and sure enough here comes the ads/spyware
most of the ones that traverse on the p2p file sharing groups are all the same.
some of them are quite bad.

something for nothing is never true with the p2p sites. the bigger and more popular they become it cots them money & they have to pay for things so they revert to ads
