There is nothing in the contest rules stating the maps are temporary, unfinished or not for play on servers. Quite the contrary, one of the criteria for voting points is "playability". If you can't play it on a server with users you certainly don't have a good way to judge playability.

You can't "steal" something that's put on the net for "public consumption".

All 7 maps it says, not "all seven unfinished maps".

What kind of contest is it that judges unfinished maps? What's the point? If a mapper submits a finished map and beats another map in the voting is the other mapper allowed to say, wait, it's not finished and demand an opportunity to resubmit and get a re-vote? Or is it only about having uncontrolled map revisions out there? If so, where is this stated in the rules that the maps are to be downloaded, voted on and discarded pending a final map release?

Wixen1 even posted a link to the contest on the ClanWos.org site without stating the maps were in any way unfinished or for private use. Our clan apparently never got around to uploading the maps to our servers for playing or testing.

Regarding the "she who shall not be named" and the allegation that X7 uploaded the maps to tastyspleen.net without "authorization". Last I heard X7 was on Laura's bad-boy list.

As it was, the seven maps only garnered six votes, a very poor turnout of voters, indeed.

The maps that are here have the authors' txt file with it,  and appear to be the finished versions.
Why are things getting so weird?

The contest at Q2C I took part in, after the map links went up I uploaded to tasty and said I'd try and get them onto mutant and was thanked for my efforts.
I meant to do the same when the links went up for this one, was just to lazy

I'm still banned at the q2 cafe for stating that stupid shit like this would occur wherever spawny goes.

That would be the same q2 cafe where I helped people with mapping problems for years and where I assisted in running some of the more successful contests (ones that ended up finishing and being judged and released normally).
Because of Wixen1 banning me for stating the now proven truth, I can't really comment on much of what's gone down over there recently, but I will say a big fat LAWL for the entire situation.

Literally, the whole sentence needs quotes around every word to qualify them.

She's been stealing maps from their authors for years now, poluting their gameplay with her unbalanced item placements, and then slapping her name on them.

From the start, I figured this "contest" as a way for her to blather stupidly and judge other people's things that she obviously isn't smart enough to make herself, all the while providing her with new maps to steal and populate her empty anti-tastyspleen xatrix server.

Actually, she has no servers. Ramirez provided her with her servers, but after he and her got in a little scuffle, ramirez took down her servers, started putting up fake servers like "Spawngirl is married to Razor!" and started making fake blog posts about spawn, and while she claims her blog was hacked, she was, in reality, stupid enough to give ramirez the admin password for her blog. If ramirez wanted to, he could have deleted the whole thing.

Tastyspleen.net stole and published the contest maps on to their servers before the maps and contest was finished/over.

P.S. It would be a cool gesture of good faith if we could identify the apparently unfinished maps and remove them.

To the best of my knowledge, there has been zero attempt to contact me regarding any such map issues.

Between the PM system on the forums, availability on the IRC channel, and console@tastyspleen.net email, I don't feel I've made myself terribly difficult to reach.  (Any email mentioning quake should get past my spam filters.)

We certainly didn't deliberately publish unfinished maps.

If anyone feels we have content on tastyspleen.net that should not be publicly available, they are encouraged to please contact us so that we can be made aware of the issue.

Holy fudge nuggets. I was about to defend Wixen for his contributions in q2scene and an early support for the tastycast... but ban dervish? WHY!?

He is by far one of the best contributers of mapping help on that forum!
