alternate rendering stuff.... like for q2 there is opengl and 3dfx... 3dfx was really good, but it was crazy proprietary so it died out and now is completely useless there is still ways to emulate and shit and force your system to run it for old games that require it... but seeing as q2 runs opengl, there is no need

on topic, i believe if he was just trying out a dif renderer and typed it wrong, OR if he was just using a renderer ac didnt know... it would show up as unknown renderer coming up specifically saying wallhack means he was using a known wall hack i think

It came up unknown renderer for me and kicked me with some kind of cheat message idk. That was two years ago when  I was trying to get R1q2 and R1GL shit figured out. Changing to opengl or any other option within video would kick me from the server ect.

I've never owned a 3dfx card, but from the screenshots and videos I've seen of older games that used it, it looked a lot better than the openGL stuff at the time. Primarily I noticed that the colors and lighting looked a lot more vivid and bold. I think Recycled mentioned once that he used to play Quake2 on a machine with a 3dfx card back in the day.

Yeah, as quadz mentioned, if it was a legit renderer experiencing some kind of bug, it would say "unknown renderer". "Wallhack" means that it is a known and logged wallhack and that it was loaded for usage, not just something laying in the Quake2 folder somewhere. If it was not in use, AC wouldn't spot it, only an rcon MZ EXEC scan would find it, at which point an admin would instruct you to remove it or else be kicked.

The way I understand AC to work, it's virtually impossible for some new user-made renderer or known renderer bug to report as a "wallhack" since the term "wallhack" is given to KNOWN files which have been examined kernel by kernel and logged. So you'd probably have a better chance of winning the mega-million lotto in 3 seperate states all in the same day than having a legit renderer report as a wallhack.

FOC.....First off, i ran a home made hack on tastyspleen not pepps. Secondly ive played pepps servers for like 10  or more years and as soon as he found out i hacked he banned me.  Thats like saying quadz allowed someone like granny to hack just cause he played tastyspleen.  Im all for you running your mouth at people who have offended you or wronged you but pepp is really nice, and a great admin. I assure you he had no problem dropping the ban hammer on a person he gamed with for like 10 years for hacking. Shit it may of even been over ten years. Back in the inet arena days.
