autoexec.cfg in R1Q2 will not load

I'm having a problem with loading Q2 with R1Q2.
When I load on servers not requiring R1Q2 my cfg loads normally.
I load with Q2.exe.
But if I load with R1Q2 as requierd my cfg does not load.
My autoexec.cfg is in all my mod folders, and in my baseq2 but R1Q2 does
not recognize it.
I'm using a panther xl.
Go ahead and  hit me with the joystick people are slow, but I just want
 my cfg to work  to  :raincloud:frag some of you folks.

  exec autoexec.cfg

?

extremely bad practice to edit config.cfg itself i suggest you try putting all your custom cvars into an autoexec.cfg

do what quadz said, and you could also try renaming it to r1q2.cfg because i believe r1q2 tries to execute that config on start up as well

or u can just make a config name it "my.cfg" and everytime b4 you play type in the console "exec my.cfg". This would be quite usefull if u play on diffrent mod that uses diffrent binds.

Hope this gets sorted out. 

I don't use the autoexec option.  I have all my commands in 'init.cfg' and just type 'exec init.cfg; connect tastyspleen.net' when I start up q2.

Joystick all you want,  makes for an easier target.    Not as bad as a gamepad though.

Although, my friend played q1 with joystick and did amazingly well,  guess it really boils down to what you are used to.
  More importantly what you enjoy.   

Also, r1q2 is not required.  Unless you or someone in your subnet has forced Anticheat, 
but even then there are 3 or 4 clients you can use Anticheat with besides r1q2.

?

I've tried to load my cfg in the consloe many times.
I even renamed my autoexec.cfg to a few different.cfgs and
no help.
No error messages have apearred and still all I can use
is the keyboard and mouse.
I've looked for other no cheat clients but they are
outdated.

BTW, unless you have a specific reason to have a different autoexec.cfg in your mod folders, I'd recommend putting autoexec.cfg in baseq2 ONLY, to avoid confusion.  (It will still load from baseq2 when playing different mods.)

Well, if you want to prove that autoexec.cfg is being loaded, place the following line at the bottom of the autoexec.cfg file:

echo "autoexec loaded!"

If you see that message in your console, you know the cfg was loaded.


Which specific commands in the autoexec.cfg do you think are not being loaded?  Things related to joystick?

I tried the echo command and it did not show.
When I type ecec autoexec.cfg, "show game score" shows up.
Ive checked my cfg and I have no binds to that effect.
My cfg has all the  commands for my panther xl.
If I load Q2 with the q2.exe command I do not get this issue.
Only if I want to log on to a anticheat server that requires
the r1q2 launch command do I get this problem.
