only place to use timers here at tastyspleen would be the ffa servers... and even that is useless cause you can rape ffa without ever grabbing an armor -.- easy shit...

you can time by the game clock just fine if you want exact timings, or you can time by item relation and feel just fine also with a little practice

timers wont make you pro, they just make you an idiot who needs a crutch...

lol my tdm config is actually quite nice, need to add a couple more communication binds, but its better than that one right there

item timers are WAY easy to use... there is no learning curve with them, so when a noob learns about item timers the reaction is usually "I CAN DO THAT!? NO WONDER IVE BEEN GETTING OWNED!" lol item timers dont make you good, they help quite a lot, much more on some maps, and they are certainly an advantage, but not a huge one

playing with item timers is just more fun, everyone is on a more level ground, takes away some advantages some skilless noobs get from writing up a config with timers

item timers might be standard in europe but here in america most of us would prefer not to use them

if u 'feel' urge to insult someone, u should address your insults to 2x2/edge/edl/euroq2l admin http://wision.own.cz/files/config/wision.cfg since i quoted part of his cfg

not my config since i played clanbase league 4x4 last time 2000/2001

funny how ppl without any league 4x4 experience have  professionally opinion about game they dont play at all (random pickup r not league games)

OK, OK, OK...

Look guys.. the subject isn't Item Timers... (a subject after reading, I don't know much more about but want to..)
HOWEVER..
I've success with the WAV file playback.  I bound F1 to play a wav, now that's it's in MONO WAV format, but can't get any others F keys  to play any more soundclips.
The PROBLEM:
QUAKE resets my config for all Fstop presets  Are these keys not allowed in binds?

ANd where can A pro turned newbie learn about timers so I can keep up w/your discussion?

Don't edit config.cfg directly.  Instead, create a text file: Quake2/baseq2/autoexec.cfg

Place your config in autoexec.cfg, and Q2 will not modify it.


Regarding playing sounds for other players to hear.  This requires server-side support.  If your server is running Q2Admin, you can turn on "play_all_enable" and it will enable commands like "play_all" and "say !a" to play sounds to everyone.

(Note: This feature is disabled in some versions of Q2Admin, with the following comment: "r1ch 2005-01-26 disable hugely buggy commands".)
