wondering how hard it would be to start a pickup community in NA for q4... lotta people talk about how they miss it, the game hasnt gone anywhere and there is tons of people who miss it so why not get all of them playing it

probably wont happen but one can dream eh?

its a really cool game.... a LOT better than most people give it credit for

SP I found fun but never got in to MP.  If I wanted sterilized MP I'd play Q3A (or now Live). 

IMHO id controlled the game to much.  Raven did some cool SP & MP stuff with Voyager & Jedi Knight (ok, that one is just MP only.  ) & it seems id didn't want anything cool or fun, they wanted it to follow things to a T, which it did.

imo the mp isnt bad at all its quite good... quake 4 has many movement tricks that quake3 eliminated, not as many as quake2 though

quake4 has crouch sliding which makes things go a lot faster than q3, it also has ramp jumps which are used a lot in the maps, and the mini double jumps up stairs feel like they go faster than q3 as well...

the weapons just feel great to me, the rocket launcher is pretty sweet, i love q4 railgun and hyper blaster, and the others all feel solid too, you dont get that toy weapon feel that some games like warsow have

and the maps are pretty damn sweet it doesnt fall into a lot of the classic maps... some classic ctf maps yes, but the duel maps like galang, placebo, and monsoon are pretty epic and not seen in earlier quakes... really refreshing compared to quake3/live that uses aero and blood run from quakeworld and especially with live still playing the same duel maps that q3 was a decade ago like q3dm6

and NO ONE CAN BITCH ABOUT THE GRAPHICS! lol people can complain about quakeworld or quake2 having bad graphics all they want, they still are some of the best deathmatch games ever made.... however, quake4 is also a very good dm game, AND the graphics are still pretty good

quake4 is pretty epic and sadly missed by many for no reason :/ its still there, just needs players

I'd like to see a Coop mod for Q4, or a TF style mod that uses Strogg vs Humans.  There's a lot of potential for mods people just didn't bother.

far as im concerned all it needs is tdm 1v1 and ctf and q4max does that beautifully... but there is a mod in dev that is supposedly REALLY awesome, ive talked to some of the dev team and it sounds pretty epic, its called GTR and it puts in a WHOLE bunch of different customizable options, instagib with fast gameplay, cpm type movement, a whole bunch of really awesome stuff thats all votable or config options so you can play exactly how you want to play... only problem is they lost their lead programmer end of last month so dev has been haulted :/

starting a community by bringing you into it is a sure way to fail.  i'm all for it, minus you being there.
