Q2 Questions

When you make an autoexec.cfg do you have to type exec autoexec.cfg everytime you want it ran or does it automatically run when you leave it in your baseq2 folder? And how do i get it so i can run MAX FPS in quake. Ive listened to a few people and it never feels like theres any difference in the gameplay. Help would be appreciated

you just need to have your autoexec.cfg in your baseq2 folder
if you want to set your maxfps use cl_maxfps between 80-120 or so
you should see a difference with that, but some servers will cap it
so id use one of the engines that use decoupled fps like r1q2 or egl

also a good thing to do it disable vsync

It kinda sounds like you aren't in fullscreen mode.Fire up q2,look in the video section and see if fullscreen says Yes.

hmm... yeah the whole point of an autoexec.cfg is that it should run automatically. But if it won't for some reason you're probably better of using some workaround. Rename the autoexec.cfg to whatever-you-like.cfg and try executing it from the command line of a shortcut. Create a shortcut and type this at the end: " +exec yourconfig.cfg"
If the game reads your config then there should be no need to add a vid_restart line.

i also want to figure out how i cant get an instant reaction between my mouse clicking and the gun in quake II firing, bcause there is a delay, and its hard to aim like that.

most likely this is ping/latency related and has to do with you connection speed. The higher your ping (think 100 and above) the longer the delay.

Tell me what other lines of code i should throw in so i can run smoother, aim smoother, and box jumps most importantly. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
