Just go straight for metalman, if you can beat him you're OP with metalblade and can easily beat the game
Hand-grenades are what make Q2 special. No other game implements grenades as nicely as Q2!Seriously, hand-grenades are my favorite weapon in the game! Not the most powerful, but the one that yields the most comedy! (I just wish they did more damage!!)Q2 without 'nades, is like a dog without balls.
Nades take away 120. Rocket take away 120. SSG can take away 120, if all 20 pellets to the shell connect (-6 HP each).BFG can take away 200 HP technically but you're never in the practical scenario to absorb the entire blast radius.
rockets ARE 100-120. all i was saying is that 120 is the most damage you can deal, tied with 3 weapons, bfg is an exception. No site has it right, just open q2 twice and try it on yourself.
All right, I just looked at the source code, and this is the damage for all weapons:Blaster (30 dmg/sec)Does 15 (10 in single player) energy damage. Fires 2 times every second.Shotgun (40 dmg/sec)Shotgun shoots 12 pellets of 4 damage each for a maximum of 48 damage. Fires once every 1.2 seconds.Super Shotgun (100 dmg/sec)Super shotgun shoots two shotgun blasts 5 quake units to either side of the center of your gun. (This is about equivalent to the height of one of those shallow stairs in the arena of q2rdm2.) Each blast contains 10 pellets which do 6 damage each for a grand total of 120 damage. Fires once every 1.2 seconds.Machinegun (80 dmg/sec)Shoots 8 damage bullets at the rate of about 10 every second.Chaingun (80->160->240 dmg/sec)Fires 6 (8 in single player) damage bullets in bursts. Each burst fires from 1 to 3 bullets, depending upon the amount the chaingun has been wound up. From frames 1 to 9, it fires 1 bullet/burst. From frames 10 to 14 it fires 2 bullets/burst. From frame 15 onward, it fires 3 bullets/burst. These bursts are fired at the rate of 10 every second.Grenades (variable dmg/sec)Fires 125 damage grenades. These grenades have a 165 unit splash radius. Rate of fire is variable.Grenade Launcher (120 dmg/sec)Fires 120 damage grenades. These grenades have a 160 unit splash radius. Fires at a rate of 1 every second.Rocket Launcher (~137 dmg/sec)Fires 100 to 120 (random) damage rockets. These rockets have a 120 unit splash radius. Rockets are fired at the rate of around 1.25 per secondHyperblaster (150 dmg/sec)Does 15 (20 in single player) energy damage per bolt. Bolts are fired at the rate of 10 per second.Railgun (67 dmg/sec)Does 100 (150 in single player) damage. Fires once every 1.5 seconds. So the order in terms of damage/second is:Chaingun (fully wound up)Chaingun (2/3 wound up)HyperblasterRocket LauncherGrenade LauncherSuper ShotgunChaingun (1/3 wound up) & MachinegunRailgunShotgunBlaster
