People FOR one server:

With the recent explosion of new map overrides, I would like to suggest that ALL (including the classic) maps be made available on the XRAZY server and the XATRIX server would have the stock maps.

I vote for 1 server where all maps are availabe. (also the xrazy maps)

I think xatrix would be better for classic maps only..
And last maps uploaded on xatrix (faderjok maps) are more "xrazy style".

Surprising as it may seem, I do take your input into consideration.  But if it happens I'm not persuaded by one or more of your arguments, that doesn't imply I haven't listened, or haven't considered your point, or have somehow succumbed to the siren song of south american genitalia.

The most difficult or challenging aspect of the current situation, for me, is this:

I am not comfortable using someone's contributions in a manner explicitly contrary to their wishes.  For me, this is an issue that would seem affect tastyspleen as a whole; transcending XRAZY, XATRIX, etc.

Clearly, having only one server would be easier for me to maintain.  I don't particularly LIKE the idea of having to maintain three servers with three separate map lists.

Nevertheless, I don't currently see a better option, unless I am willing to state that tastyspleen will just do what it wants with anyone's contributions regardless of their specific objections.  But that doesn't feel right to me, and I'm unlikely to be convinced otherwise by arguments of the form, "a lot of people said they don't care so do it anyway."

Hey can I get a copy of the overrides?

I'd like to keep my notepad open for 2 days and swap an adrenaline p/u for a box of slugs.

Can I get all my overrides added to the regular xatrix server too?


*xatrix was what kept me playing on a regular basis. Then all this shit that happened with spawngirl tainted the game. Like the Comedian said, "It's all a joke."

I never really had any objections or negative comments about the maps themselves being used. The excessive placement of traps on some of the maps was somewhat annoying since SOME PEOPLE base their entire game upon the usage of traps. The main thing I didn't like that I would change if I could would be the usage of large and unnecessary sound files, especially music and movie trailer sound clips in the maps. Not only does it hinder a players ability to hear what other players are doing, it is IN FACT the ENTIRE reason why it takes so long to download new maps. If memory serves me correct, some of these sounds are 10mb and bigger. I don't mind downloading and playing new maps at all, but I'm not too thrilled that I have to sacrifice unnecessary amounts of hard disk space to download these retarded sounds just because some dumb airhead thinks they sound cool.

As for uploading maps, you only upload the .override file in the xatrix folder in FTP

You could, but I'd recommend you start with the original map entity list, rather than the override.
