ROFL! Ok, I'm easily amused, but this thread had some hilarious posts. Down here in the south, knowing how to shoot a gun has always been a part of the culture. It's just something we learn from adults as kids and then pass it on to the next generation. We don't have to hunt for food as much now that they have them fancy grocery stores, but we still hunt and shoot. I taught my sons gun safety beginning with a BB gun (i.e., you treat that thing like a loaded 12 gauge). I didn't have to teach my wife...her daddy did that. No, shes not a toothless tom-boy - a pretty southern belle who can load, aim and fire a shotgun or pistol. That usually has more of an effect on intruders than a soliloquy.
I think it's better to teach your children how to use a gun safely and responsibly than to forbid them from using them.
