mymap returns to vanilla

Mymap on vanilla is spamtastical!
I believe it's more fact3 +ia than ware2 +ia, Element    .....
Check out the demo I got ... I missed the beginning coz I only decided to demo it halfway through the match when I saw how I was owning every1

in ware2.. it has this big open room with the railgun in the middle.. you just grab the chain gun and spray bullets into everything.. Newer players are absent minded and just run for the railgun.. and while they're being chained they keep going for it thinking in thier mind that if they just get to it.. they might be able to get off a shot and kill me..

It is a beautiful thing, but dont let toxic see that, he may just cry, and we dont want another emo fag. anyways, interesting stuff there console, i see what you mean, but if i ever get a mymap base1 +ia then all hell will break loose, i love getting the ss and staying in the crashed rocket area and killing all with armour and adrenaline nearby, fun , Fact 3 sucks if you want to play a proper game, spawn killing is terrible, oh well... im going to go cry now

If I have only a few minutes to play, then the map I have requested will not even come into play until I have left the server; I think it's pretty rude to impose my map on a server that I'm not even on.

Just to point out one of mymap's features, in case it wasn't widely known - it's OK to request a map even if you think you might have to leave the server before it's played, because if you leave before your map is played, mymap deletes your request from the queue.

It looks like this:   

  def handle_player_disconnect(playername, client_number, ip)
    cur_maprot.remove_by_key ip
  end

This reminds me...I haven't ran my ever so popular "Kobra's Main Gate!" in quite some time.

The current longer timelimit is an attempt to balance allowing some playfulness with the settings vs. those who prefer the standard vanilla settings.

I played today and tried to use it, but it was painful.  The limit seem a bit high to me.  Ironically, about 5 of the maps I hope to play had been up within the last couple hours (HEHE - sarcasm alert) so I could not get them - now here is what this means to me - OTHER PEOPLE WANTED THEM TOO! 

Unfortuantely, we cannot code agains idocy and this makes what used to be a wonderful nullified by those amongst us who cannot use it sensibly (I am perhaps guilty of this myself).

I know that there are those amongst us who think that ANY use of IA, QUAD, BFG or anything "Noobish" like that is a DREADFUL SIN against their sacred quake "professionalism".  I think that those types are just as corrosive to fun as those who want EVERY map to be IA.  We need a balance.  It's a damned game afterall - Remember the fun?

I would prefer to be closer to the 45 minute window. . .   Thanks for bringing it back.

I have to assume people found vanilla fun with no mymap at all - judging by the server's popularity.

Chess is a damned game afterall too.  Try giving the queen infinite ammo, and see how many people who enjoy chess as it is want to play that version of it very often.   

I know, I know, people who like chess the way it is traditionally played are just corrosive to fun.

I think it's cool that Q2 is configurable enough that people can find a server running their specific brand of fun.

Maybe we could set up a "goatass" server for you running your specific Habib-approved configuration? 

If it gets really popular though, after a year or two I'll start making drastic changes to its configuration.  Anyone who doesn't like that will be reminded they've merely forgotten what fun is.
