Jump Mod Offline?
« on: June 22, 2009, 02:51:16 PM »
This is mainly pointed at Console, but others might know. Is there anyway to play the jumpmod offline? (without using the servers). I know about typing "game jump" into console. And everything works well except for a couple things. In order to add maps I have to type each individual map name into the file "maplist.ini". And my scores are not being saved. But the demos are being saved and work fine. SOme help would be nice and a file download of the TastySpleen server's maplist.ini file would be helpful.  :help:

Hi,

I don't have an answer for why your scores are not being saved. :exqueezeme:

But, here is the maplist: http://tastyspleen.net/~quake2/jumpmaps/maplist.ini

So there is no folder set aside in the jumpmod directory that handles scores? I know there are files for the demos, is there anything like the demo files that handles the scores/times for each level?

So there is no folder set aside in the jumpmod directory that handles scores?

On our server, it uses the port number as a subdirectory.

I.e., the scores are stored in:

  jump/27940/...

I checked the port folder in the "jump" directory and it was filled with these files with the extension ".t" I think that is the potential scores. When I open them up they just say something like...

"Jumpmod 067

10besttimes 0
10times 0 2"

Do I have to select the correct port in the console maybe? Something that might be messing up the times is that when I try and access the player setup menu I am denied because it says, "No valid player models". When i look in baseq2\players\... there are all the necessary player models there. Or maybe they are just corrupted. I don't mean to burden people but could someone upload just the plain and basic player models because Q2 doesn't recognize mine. Another thought is that when i look in console, it says "could not override file manual.ini". That sounds like a necessary file and could possibly be the reason for the scores not being saved. Any input would help guys, thanks.

I have actually come across some new insight about this whole "Times/Scores" issue. It seems the culprit was the port number. In console i have to set the port to the correct number (which is the number of the port folder :)) by typing in for example "port 27910". Also I figured out if I want my times to be saved after i achieved them, I cannot just switch maps with the "map forkjumping" command, I have to do the "mapvote forkjumping" command. So I hope this helps other people who like to use the jumpmod offline. Happy Jumping!

(By the Way, I would still like those player models files because I am tired of looking at pitch black demo replays).  O.o
