DM 2 would be awesome. I'd love to give Handicap mod a go!

3 weapon coop is going to be the target of another Splatter fest soon.

So lets get opinions on what to play and make an official choice tonight.

Tomorrow night at 9:00pm EST come on in for another exciting episode of the Sunday Splatterfest! Just GOTO DM2

Players of all walks of life welcome here because this week we try out the oh so close to my heart Handicap and NoobQuad settings. This mod is made to balance the game out. Good players have a chance to really challenge themselves and not so great players have a fighting chance.

Commands:

handicap ##
(i.e. handicap 75)

- percentage of player's total damage dealt based on the handicap number specified. Minimum is 25, maximum and default is 100

Don't forget that whoever's in the lead cannot pick up the quad, and anyone using a quad will drop it if they crawl their way back up to the top!

Don't be fooled, this mod is an undeniable blast and a challenge that no good player should pass up!

(Quest, Def... this means someone else might rail you for a change

)

I've made a few tweaks this evening:

- Audio & text feedback when noobquad drops and/or can't be picked up. (bleep! bleep!)
- Typing "handicap" without a number, lists all players who are handicapped.
- Handicap value shows on deathmatch scoreboard.
- Bonus audio effect when a player with a handicap difficulty of 50-or-more frags someone. (unnnf!)

Very awesome, but do you mean 50 or less? (meaning anyone between a handicap of 25 and 50)

Yeah, when the number is 50 or less... or the "difficulty" is 50-or-more...

Played some handimod (actually called noobquad) two weeks back and it was surprisingly fun. It does an excellent job of balancing players.

ok so the lower you set the handicap the harder it gets? I played some with handicaps 25 and 50 and I noticed it wasn't just a lot harder to get a kill but I died a lot faster too. My armor didn't seem to protect much and even the smallest fart was enough to get me killed, or so it seemed. Of course you can choose not to use it or use a higher handicap but I think I'd like it better if the mod only affected your firing power:P Nonetheless ->

I used a lower handicap and just had all my kills stolen by everyone before I could finish them off.

You're in luck. It only affects your firing power.

At least, that's how it's supposed to work. There has been an issue for a couple people trying to set handicaps, and the server doesn't see the command, or something.

But if the scoreboard shows the number in the lower left corner if your player picture, then the handicap is set.

But anyway... if your handicap is set to 50, then your weapons are 1/2 strength. If set to 25, your weapons are 1/4 strength. (Unless you are fighting someone who also has a handicap set, in which case Peewee normalizes the relative values somehow... i haven't looked at the algorithm.)

Actually I determine them on a case by case basis, I have a little news ticker and a "allow or deny" frag button and just watch the...

Anyway here's the logic behind the handicaps:

Player A has a handicap of 50
Player B has a handicap of 50
Player C has a handicap of 100 (default)
Player D has a handicap of 25

Player A and Player B only do 50% damage to player C.
Player A does normal damage to Player B since their "skills are equal"
Player D only does 25% damage to all players
Player A and B does full damage to player D because he is "more skilled"

So basically if someone has an equal or greater handicap percentage than you, then they will do normal damage to him.

I plan on reworking this. The logic is that you should take normal damage from equally skilled players and do normal damage to more skilled players. For the purpose of flat out training and giving yourself huge disadvantages, this is a good idea. For the purposes of an FFA, this should be altered.

So the new idea that has yet to be implemented
percentage = your handicap + (target handicap - 100)
if (percentage > 100) percentage = 100

So you will always do full damage to equally skilled players.
25 + (100 - 25) = 100%
50 + (100 - 50) = 50%

Lesser skilled players will take more damage than unhandicapped players
50+ (100 - 60) = 90%
50 + (100 - 75) = 75%

Unhandicapped players will remain unaffected
100 + (100 - 100) = 100%
75 + (100 - 100) = 75%

Lesser Skilled Players will do normal damage to greater skill players
60 + (100 - 50) = 110% (which is defaulted to 100)
35 + (100 -25) = 110% (which is defaulted to 100)

EDIT: As complicated as that is, it may work to just cause handicapped damage to EVERYONE including equal and normal skilled players.
